Canal Side Campsites
Hello,
I’m a newbie motorhome owner seeking advice and information.
My wife and I would like to explore Cheshire during July through to September preferably staying at campsites or pub stopovers located near or on canals. Our motorhome is an Auto-Trail Comanche (fairly large) and therefore we may not be permitted to stop on smaller sites; If anybody can recommend any suitable sites it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

A couple of years ago we stayed at Chester Fair Oaks and got a reasonably priced taxi to Ellesmere Port so that we could visit the Canal Museum there. You can also take the bus from fairly near the site into Chester visit the canal there.

Ferkel,
We live near here so have never stayed at this site, but its adjacent to the canal and you can walk into Chester along the towpath. We walk past it most weekends with the dog.....
There are two great pubs nearby, the Cheshire Cat is next door, access via towpath (very popular indeed) and the Ring O Bells in the village (Chrisleton)..

We stayed at Netherwood in 1976 - the year of the drought. It was very nice then.
Sorry, that doesn't really help.

Cotton Arms pub at Wrenbury near Nantwich on Shropshire Union Canal has 70 pitches including hard standing ones for motorhomes. Open to all without Club membership required, food and drink in the pub, the pub's website gives details, prices and menus.

On the Cheshire/Shropshire border you have the Willeymoor Lock with campsite adjacent, at Grindley Brook there's the Horse & Jockey with campsite and another just up the road towards Whitchurch and another across the road - all on the Llangollen canal.
Near the Farmers' Arms at Ravensmoor there's a CL site close by and at nearby Burland, plus Shady Oak campsite between Tiverton and Beeston - you're spoilt for choice!

Traversing canals would seem to be thirsty work.
