Site of the week: Bolton Abbey
Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, our Site of the Week is the beautiful Bolton Abbey Club Site, and is arguably one of the prettiest on the network. Wildlife lovers will enjoy this campsite; within the boundaries of the site are some 75 miles of footpaths through moors, woods and farmland. Perfect for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting. Will we be welcoming you on site this year? Have you stayed there before and do you have any recommendations for anyone visiting the site?

It was one of the first few sites we visited when we took up caravanning some 13 years ago. Really enjoyed our visit, lovely site with great walking without using the car. We must get round to revisiting, it is long overdue.
As a towing novice I do remember finding the arch a little daunting. We did fit however.😀

We loved the situation of this site. There is a nice cafe outside the gates and a scenic bus ride to Grassington just over the road. The estate walks are great, best bit is the rushing water through the Strid. A longer walk takes you towards Bolton Abbey itself with an excellent estate run cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, very nice food in a lovely setting.

Settermum - If your hubby is anything like me, he'll do a google check of the route so will most likely see the arch.

Just a word of caution, some of the footpaths up onto the moors to the north and south of the river do not allow one to take your dog, because they are the Devonshire Estates shooting grounds.

This is becoming one of our favourite sites and due there again in 3 weeks. The main issue with the archway is oncoming traffic crowding the exit and nervous drivers in front who think their Micra will not fit...... The riverside walks are lovely, great for the dog and the restaurant at nearby Barden Towers is superb. We got married at the restaurant 7 years ago in June so tend to go early June most years now. I used to live not far away in Otley so never considered it for the Caravan although now living near Holmfirth it makes for a nice break without driving for too long.
