Need to change gas from a blue bottle to a red one
always had red bottles but when I last needed one there weren't any in stock so ended up with a blue bottle which the caravan sales bloke fitted as I was getting my new van.
have now got a bottle of calor lite, bought the right regulator. I have a gas spanner and no idea what to do! There is a hose going from the van to the blue bottle, near the bottle is a big brass nut. Do I undo this and then fit the hose onto the new regulator
and then the regulator onto the bottle?
ive changed calor lites over before but never messed about with hoses and regulators. Is it something which is safe to do myself?

Fortunately gas fittings have been designed to be foolproof. If it’s not right, it simply won’t fit.
The pigtail to your regulator, is connected there with a big brass nut and an important washer. A friend of mine had hers connected by her dealer, who omitted the washer (we found it in the bottom of the locker) and we could smell the leaking gas. So much for professionals.
BUT blue bottles are connected by a different fitting to Calorlite, which uses an end fitting known as POL. So for Calorlite you need a pigtail with a POL connector at one end. You can tell a POL connector from the hard rubber dome at the bottle end. Many of us find it more convenient to buy our POL pigtails with handwheels instead of big nuts which require a spanner.
