Probably a silly question, but should I sterilise the water tank and pipe work with something like “Puriclean” before use?  If so, how long should I leave to soak, 1 or 12hrs?

I`ve never sterilised any system still here to tell the tale, we do always boil water and use sparkling bottled water if not used as a hot drink. If its brand new it should`nt need any thing other than a good flush. If you do decide to sterilise check in the handbook for the boiler that your  is safe to use, some can cause damage to the alloy.

Wouldn't have thought it necessary in a new caravan but if you feel comfortable sterilising your system do it.  I clean mine at the start of every season using 'Puiclean',  leave it to do its job for 24 hours then flush it out.   There are many  who do not and are still here to tell the tale.  There was a discussion on here before about sterilising which included some pictures of old pipework, I think it was Val's pics, they were an encouragement to clean your system!

    Gluten is not a problem.

Thanks all for your comments.  We have always used shop-bought still water for drinks and will continue with this, but just wondered if I should soak and flush pipes in case anything nasty lurking!!
