Awning puller recommendation?

SWMBO announced she has gone on strike when it comes to the awning so can anyone suggest a proprietary puller?

    I take it you are not after suggestions in how to pull another assistant

    Its not for me, in consideration of the effort required i thought a puller would make it easier for the OH and persuade her to call off her strike. 

    On a serious note i am presently struggling with a Crohns related health issue and we are looking at any devices or gadgets that will ease physical effort of caravanning. The air awning is great but bleeping heavy to put into position in the awning rail.

    If it helps you, I put an eyelet in the leading corner of the awning, not sure how to explain it, but it is the flap that extends past the main part of the awning that runs through the rail. Then attached one of the guy ropes as long as possible using a carabiniere. The OH just pulls a little to give me the oomph needed. Works very well.

     Having gone to assist somebody who had managed to jam one in the awning rail i know that they do seem heavy to pull. I have seen devices used that seem to resemble an elongated stevedore's hook with eyelets in the awning ends.

    Hi Flatcoat,

    I sympathise as we old bu**ers also need as much help as possible. If your budget will stretch, our EP hydraulic self levelling makes the setting up less strenuous, which means day 2 of the holiday is not a total recovery day.

    Next best gadget is a service pitch.

    If only they would invent a self pegging awning.

    Forgot to say, make sure the rail runner is clean and lubricated with a suitable product, check out the isabella video on u-tube. Can't remember what the lubricant was, but it was the proofing spray.

    Kampa have come up with a pulley system (have a look on their website) - I think it's about £25 - and allows (in theory), one person to both feed the awning into the rail whilst pulling it on with the pulley.  It looked a good idea at first, but on reflection, I am thinking it must put a lot of strain on the awning rail.

    We have just swapped our Air Pro 380 for a 390 Grande which has the advantage of having completely removable end panels, so at least there is slightly less weight to deal with when putting the awning on the rail. Air awnings have many advantages over conventional ones but they are b. heavy to get on the rail.

    I carry a set of lightweight aluminium steps in the van which allow me to get a 'straight' pull on the awning, which do help considerably.
