It’s not a legal thing, Rob, and doesn't equate to a V5 issued by DVLA.

Not all vans are registered with CRIS, especially continental vans. If you contact CRIS (check Google) with the long van plate number, they should be able to tell you if it’s registered.

Unregistered vans can be registered for a fee.

    Hi there Rob,

As Tinwheeler said, registering the caravan with CRIS is not a legal requirement.

It is also not a legal requirement to insure your caravan, although we would recommend you do.

The telephone number for CRIS is 0203 282 1000.  I hope that helps.

    HAPPY TOURING!

Just as a matter of interest for everyone purchasing a new van, CRIS seem to have improved no end. On purchasing our latest van we were given a provisional CRIS document on the day to carry us over to the arrival of the full Certificate and Card, the final documents were with us within around ten days, in the past it took a lot longer - for us anyway.
