Just checked on Metcheck for our local weather, next 2 days the wind will gust Northerly up to 40+ mph then Tuesday/Wednesday will moderate and change direction to WSW. Plans for loading and washing van already knocked on the head.
Might stay in and try to decide whether to go north, east or south when we get over there! No good asking Mrs One, she doesn't seem to bother as long as it has either sea or mountains and plenty of pretty villages and lots of walking.

Her visa caseworker said that it's taking longer because of the Home Office being very busy. The application was submitted on 17th November 2017 which was the date of expiry of the previous visa. So it's been over 5 months. They reckon it could take 6 months which would mean 17th May 2018 or even longer for a decision to be reached. If refused, an appeal must be lodged within 14 days of the date of notification of the refusal, according to the rules. It would also mean further legal costs.

Ornamental cherry tree is really stunning this year but guessing these high winds will knock the blossom off quickly

Lovely photos OP. The dismal weather with lots of rain seems to have suited some of the spring flowers and blossom but as you say it will get knocked down quickly in the forecast high winds.

What a difference a week makes. The Poppy shower at Fort Nelson on Portsdown hill. Only costs £3 for parking and the museum is worth visiting too

More photos....
in the hope that good weather will return soon!
I hope my elderly neighbour doesn't mind but I took a photo of her cottage garden and another of a Japanese maple in ours (the pink will gradually turn to green then red in the autumn.)

Yes we all have plenty of wildlife, if I could have leant over a bit more you could also see the three stone privies previously shared by the cottages. One cottage, within living memory, just a one up one down had a family of eleven in it, a remaining former occupant said they had happy days there.

Like most places it's grey cold and overcast here in normally sunny lancing. Listening to Steve wright's Sunday love songs whilst finishing packing, we are off tomorrow for 4 nights to Torquay together with 36 others from our local R B Legion let's hope the weather improves. 😊😊

At last we've had a dry, but very cold day! I can't believe that last week I was sat outside the pub at Cirencester with a T shirt and shorts on. Today we had hats and gloves at the start of the walk!
We had a very pleasant walk along the Grand Union canal and then the river into Warwick. It's a very interesting town with an historic centre, but too cold today to hang around for long - just enough time for a few pictures. These show East Gate, one of two medieval entrances to the town, adorned with this unique post box with a Doris column design. Apparently there is also one at the other entrance, Westgate. Then Mill Street, a cobbled road with some picturesque buildings right next to the castle and finally the view of the castle from the river bridge.
We're obviously going to have to come back to do more exploring when it gets warmer!

We enjoyed our stay at Warwick Racecourse site M, canal paths are a great cycle ride. If you go back, St Mary's church is wonderful, full of history, as is the Lord Leycester Hospital.
My expected guests, Mum and Sis haven't materialised yet, and OH is out pounding his pedals somewhere, so I find myself unexpectedly alone. The knitting is progressing!

Daughter and I lurking amongst the foliage at Peckover House today. (note we are in full winter gear - although dry it was very cold)

Yet another fine day here at Sanquhar, although we did have a shortish rainshower yesterday afternoon just as we were getting back to the car after a walk through the estate woods and Drumlanrig House gardens. Last night was quite cold again but this morning was fine and sunny so we were able to catch up with the washing before we headed out for a 3 1/2 hr walk from the site. All jobs done for the move up to Loch Lomond tomorrow.
There's a 400yr old Maple tree by the site entrance which is just stating to come into leaf....quite a site!

It's 6C here, dry and cold. Going to put some warm outdoor gear on for a trip to town. The van goes in for a service this week, quite a bit of juggling to get daughter's car in too, look after dog, dentist, etc etc. Can't throw off this cold either (shouldn't have worn those shorts in Cornwall, it was tempting fate!) so bring on some warm weather, I think it returns next week.

It's cold, windy but dry here. Just booked a short break for Mum, Sis and me, and then a a weeks break in a cottage with dogs. Got a great price on both, gorgeous cottage, no extras for dogs either. There are some great, late deals out there. The Club needs to take note!

I always try and avoid cottage letting agencies to be honest. They load up costs with booking fees, extras for this dog, that dog, some want a huge bond up front. Down the years, we have developed a good relationship with some independent cottage owners, and often get some great deals. Nowadays, we book very late as well, so again we get a good deal. I got caught out this time, it's Tour de Yorkshire next weekend, so a lot of places are booked, but we are going Monday to Monday and owners are happy with this. £33 per night it works out at, and a lovely place with no hidden extras such as electric meters, reliable wifi, secure patio area for dining out and scenery to die for! Two miles from Rievaulx Abbey, quiet farm with barn conversions. Walking and cycling direct from cottage, secure parking. It's not worth heaving MH out this time to be honest!
Best to scroll down beyond the likes of Sykes, Cottagesdirect, etc..... and do some digging on the private websites.
