If money's no object go for a Dyson hand held one, useful both at home and in the caravan. However, since their introduction there have been many copies (cheaper) by Gtech, Vax, etc etc which may be just as good but I only have experience of the Dyson.

Another Dyson fan - we have a DC58 - small and light(ish) and very powerful plus the array of attachments makes it very versatile.

I don't think you will ever beat a mains powered vac for performance. We recently bought the smallest, lightest, cheapest one in Carrefour (Spain) for EU 35. It also works fine on the inverter if needed.
It was supposed to be 'just for the caravan' .... but it is so good and convenient that wife has now commandeered it for the house!

I struggle with Dyson's advertising, particularly with their handheld rechargeable machines.
There are so many base machines and on top of that they bring in accessory bundles.
We have the V6, the V7, V8 and the V10, then there is the DC58 which is not based on an “8” at all but I read the V6 “Trigger” repackaged. I don't doubt I have left out a V9 and probably a half dozen more.
Then there is the accessory bundling, or I think it is that feature that delineates the “Animal” from the Trigger”, the “Absolute” and the “Total”. It is mind glazing.
So recommendations to buy a Dyson I feel need a great deal more specifics, any clarity please to what as a camping support machine we need?I want to avoid the, "I should really have brought" sort of realisation.

Has the dust ever reached the levels where the locker doors jammed? No, I thought not. Just give it a good clean when you get home.

You miss the point CY, just like doing a whole load of washing religiously every morning some can't relax and enjoy camping without a top to tail vacuum through every day.
They usually end up next to us and our trip is then spoilt by our guilt!

we have a cheap Asda one but it's 240V. We did have a 12V one but it's much quicker with 240V. Depends if you are going to be off EHU?
Oh, and we just use it at the end of each trip before departing.

I think that Dyson do go in for a lot bundling and packaging calling what is basically the same unit different names. I think the one I bought is a Dyson V6 with extra bits brand as a car and boat extra. It cost arround £150.00 earlier this year. The basic V6 is quite often on sale at Aldi for less than £100 pounds. It depends what you want. Ours would be improved by the addition of a wand, but I don’t want to pay stupid money for a length of rigid pipe.

We used to take a plug in Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner, small enough to fit in a cupboard, they do a range of cleaners including cordless, it was a good cleaner. I'm now back with a brush and dustpan plus a mini carpet sweeper, they're lightweight and take up less space.

We camp with a cat so constantly getting bits of cat litter across the floor. I bought a Bissell carpet sweeper for £15. Best £15 I've spent on the van. Handle comes in sections so folds down into a box for travel, stands up in the washroom while away. Does a grand job of sweeping up cat hairs, cat litter etc and silent to use so not constantly disturbing our neighbours (we use it throughout the day/evening). Not as good a job as a vacuum but perfect while away and then a good clean with a vacuum once back home.

We got a Von Haus 1000watt from Amazon for £20, 240 volt and is superb, very light and can be used hand held or with a long handle.

We have two dogs that come away with us so a good vacuum cleaner is essential I asked the same question as you about a year ago and the Vax was recommended by lots of people, I couldn't bring myself to pay the full price as we have two vacuum cleaners at home but neither suitable for the Motorhome so we got a reconditioned one for roughly £130 it is great.

We brought a Dyson for quick clean-ups at home about 3 years ago and found it to be so good that the mains unit does't come out of it's box any more.
I have since brought a second Dyson for our caravan so we don't have to carry it back and forth between home and van.

We took a Dyson away for a while then we found that it was easier to remove the carpets and shake them outside. A dustpan and brush does the rest.

This is what we do these days. We used to have a caravan vacuum cleaner as we very rarely bring our caravan to the house. Since we've upgraded to a Dyson cordless, we tend to make do when we're out and about in the caravan, by shaking the carpets outside and by brushing out. We then take the Dyson over to the caravan for a good go through once we are home.

We tour with our cat, who manages to leave a fine coat of hair wherever he lays. But we also have removable carpets, which respond well to a good stiff brush outside the van. That leaves just the nooks and crannies to be sucked clean, which our plug in Black and Decker 12v cleaner deals with well enough. We have a Miele cylinder, Dyson upright and hand held rechargeable Dyson at home, all of which are far better at cleaning carpets and upholstery than the B&D, While tempted to take the Dyson touring with us, its need to be recharged leaves me unenthusiastic. We do have a Makita Lion vacuum cleaner which takes the same batteries as our very handy drill - but its suck is a bit lacklustre. Then there’s a very small, very cheap mains vacuume cleaner for van use, which we’ve never quite got rid of.
After much trial and error, I think that the answer is to not be obsessive about vacuuming while away from home. A stiff brush, removable carpets and the B&D plug in 12v combine to meet holiday standards, followed by a serious clean with a proper cleaner when we return home.
