i know this sounds contradictory but in a recent discussion i posted i mentioned i had some lung damage and am now finding it harder to hitch and unhitch ,we do not wish to give up our caravan which we have recently bought. we are considering a seasonal pitch and moving it yearly to a different site. we only require h/standing and hook up, so any suggestions would be appreciated,

Hi Popeye52, You may find it difficult to get a club seasonal for this year as they booked up when  they are offered usually in November each year and usually are on grass unless the site is all hardstanding and some are only for part of the year. Also the outfit can stay on the site but you can only occupy the outfit for 21 days and two days off before you return, not sure what the rules are on a commercial site.

We had a seasonal for 4 years about 10 years ago and that was on grass only. Hope this helps.

Have you thought about switching to a Motorhome?

Popeye, all the club seasonal pitches are on grass. have you thought about storage on a site where your van is pitched for you, I don't know whether the club does this although they offer storage facilities. Other than that try www.ukcampsite.co.uk search for seasonal pitches.

If you like the East Coast of Yorkshire, take a look at Rectory Farm in Barmston, near Bridlington. It has two areas, one a CL, one a private site. Both have separate loo/shower areas, very nicely laid out, quiet, adult only. Owners will site, tow off and store your van upon request. Lots of nice villages close by, Brid if you want a traditional seaside town, gardens and houses close by to visit. Owners are very nice, very careful with vans. Worth considering if you fancy a year in this area. There is no commercial feel about the site, professionally run. Great for dogs as well if you own one, very clear about on and off lead areas and picking up. They have a Facebook website with photos.

If you follow the trend. Touring, Seasonal Pitches, Pods then logically it will be a move to Static Vans. There may be no room for us in say 5/10 years.

You might find a site where you could keep your van in storeage and they will tow it out to a pitch for the duration of your stay.  Globe Vale, in Cornwall do this.  They also allow you to keep your van on a pitch permanent, if you are a frequent visitor, but I guess you will pay more for essentially blocking off a pitch all the time.

Oddly enough we were walking on the Cleveland Way near Robin Hoods Bay a couple of days ago and came across a site that only does seasonal pitches from March to November. Picked up a leaflet out of interest - pitches for car/van/awning are £2210 for the year including water and electrics. http://northcliffe-seaview.com/ Not recommending, just noting.
