CAMC Elitist and non family friendly?and again no
Just back from St Davids. Site about half full. Not a single child to be seen on week days. Again not much extra traffic on Friday and again no children. However next door is a commercial site( 5 Star so unlikely to be cheaper than CC) and on Friday evening it filled up much more than CC site. The vans & M/H all had kids and they played footie and roundup. I guess 99% of the CC users were OAP( Guess only as they were couples with grey hair).Makes you wonder what the future is for CC.

Pretty good I would guess looking at the availability on most sites
Maybe the lack of kids playing football and screaming round your van is what attracts most of us grey haired people.
Remember the future will bring more grey hair and oldies and no doubt they will be looking for a well maintained peaceful site with no football playing screaming kids!

Funny isn't it, people post on here when kids are playing footie on site, now we have posts when they don't
Btw Fisherman I'm interested how you could see what was happening at this site 'next door', (Statics I think) isn't it about 5 minutes walk away? Were you trespassing on it?
Also why would you expect children on site midweek? Don't they have schools in Wales? people post when they take holidays in term time, now post when they don't...
Personally I would have just enjoyed the sunshine if I had been away last week

Even the football playing children on the statics site will one day have grey, or no, hair. Future look good.

...OK, midweek in termtime on a CC site.....bound to be those who aren't at work or school, isn't it....that leaves us SCs, as DD says.....
wouldn't consider myself elitist....probably the opposite, I'll pitch with (almost) anyone.....

Looking at the site 'next door' it is hardly surprising that there are more chldren since the site sells itself on providing for children. Not sure about the full booking terms as they do not give any detail beyond cancellations a month ahead for deposit refunds or before three weeks for rescheduling. No idea on deposit required or if full payment required at some point prior to arrival. The site we were last on required full payment be made 3 weeks prior to arrival.

Good god what a tirade response. The tourist site is directly over the fence, immediately adjacent, easily seen, anything else I can add. Was only making an observation as I and others were enjoying the sunshine in our chairs, nothing more.

Just an observation? Of course! That’s why you named the thread in such pleasant, non-controversial terms with no intention of causing offence or heated debate.

It's those wonderful differences again. The club has sites which are, in the eyes of some, more family/child oriented providing playgrounds etc and some more akin to adults. Thankfully though every site is inclusive and accessible to all regardless of age.

I've used the shop on the next door site when staying at Lleithyr, the two sites modge along happily next to each other. I had a quick peek at the booking system for the other site, minimum 7 nights stays in the summer, minimum two night stays at weekends, 20p per shower. So you pays your money and you takes your choice...

Just a couple of observations of my own, if that's allowed!
Fisherman - don't I remember an almost identical thread you started about the same site at about the same time last year? And yet you've gone back - so the club must be doing something right for you personally, or you'd surely have used the alternative just over the fence?
I'm not surprised there weren't any children midweek - presumably they were all back a school - there weren't any at Cirencester either until Friday, but over the weekend there were several families with children and teenagers - so the club must be doing something right for them too!

CC site does not have a walk through the animal farm - mind you it doesn't have a farm

Yes, +1
when post on here that the club is exploiting it's members they should look at that site. 20p for a shower, I thought that had long gone

K's epistle did go then it reappeared. Can't see it's relevance to the OP though?

indeed, no more club sites for me

Again it makes me laugh. The posters here have no actual knowledge. Mentions a static site 5 mins away. The tourist site is just over the fence. I made a point of showing that the young families & kids at WEEKEND went next door. Do you all know if there are deposits to pay or because the week end weather was so good, the weekenders came on spec. Doubt if any were turned away. As for the CC site its great- just see my Review ( which I do on actualities and to the point) and probably did last time I visited. I have no problem with, young, children or oldies. The reality is this site is probably the most child friendly, beach accessible in the network, but still inhabited by OAP
As for the title it was merely a question. How would that moaner have titled it I wonder.

Great, but what is your point?

School holidays - comment from the grandchildren - granddad & nan can't you go on holiday, after a week of walking, cycling, swimming, football, gardening with you, we could do with a rest to play on our computers!!!

I think it will continue along the same path. People of my age will move into the "waiting room"
The club has attempted to encourage families with limited success. Tourer explorers etc. Now we see them pitching to new motorhomers who like outdoor pursuits. They'll be 45-55 I guess and couples rather than families.
I'm in that target age group and I'm actually using club sites less than I did since all the boring focus on the 'great outdoors' in their marketing. I found it all rather off putting. Furthermore the club doesn't meet my needs in being able to book HS - essential for us when the kids came as it was easier to set up beds in the awning without the faff of lifting everything every day.
So in my view I don't see many changes to the club or site clientele but if it's meeting a demand then is there any great need to change?

“How would that moaner have titled it I wonder.”
Care to name the moaner?
I’ve only seen one moaner in this thread, tbh. And he’s currently back-pedalling furiously.
Here’s a suggestion for a title “Why isn’t the club attracting families?”. See, no need to get people’s backs up by using the E word.
