Hi Folks

I am going to Leyburn tomorrow from Southport but when visiting Hawes a couple of years ago (which is on the way there) followed the route advised in the C&MH book via junction 36 of the M6 onto the A65 then turn off just before Ingleton onto the B6255 which takes you straight to Hawes.  I am wondering what is wrong with turning right at junction 34 and going via the A683 and the A687 onto the A65 which would take quite a few miles off the journey. There are listed sites on the A683 and A687 so I assume that the route is accessible.   I will be in a motorhome and not towing a caravan.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you, VBFG

I use it in our motorhome, theres a pinch point in one of the villages and the road is a little narrow at the A65 end but not really a problem IMO

Vbfg,  I have used the route you described for exactly the same reasoning  - why go farther up the M6 only to double back but I won't make the same mistake again! -

It was pretty tight in places and not worth it but I was towing a caravan.

Thanks for the info.  I thought that it might have been for the reasons which you both mention and would not try it if towing but will give it a go in the motorhome.
