Dog breed restrictions
I’m very new to caravan touring & look forwards to the opportunity to enjoy the freedom of new places with our four legged friends. I am however, rather dismayed though to find that some caravan sites that state they are dog friendly, do impose a ban on bull breeds. We have two dogs, staffy cross & bullmastif cross. They are not listed on the dangerous dogs list but I have noticed that bull breeds are added by site owners as excluded also. Now I completely understand the concerns surrounding this issue as a responsible owner, keep my dogs on short leads within any site we visit & use extending leads in open areas with off lead dogs. I wondered if any one reading this may have suggestions of true “dog friendly” sites that don’t discriminate in the Dorset area.

CAMC and C&CC sites are very dog friendly to responsible dog owners. As far as I am aware, only those breeds listed as dangerous are prohibited.
This commercial site is excellent and only mentions leads on their website in relation to dogs. It might be worth giving them a ring.

Chippy, as far as I know the CC and C&CC do not have a ban on any dog types, so you should be fine on their sites, 6 CC ones and 3 C&CC ones..

Hi chippy
We just stayed at wareham forrest tourist park (commercial site) with our dog. Lots of dogs on site, true my dog friendly nature paths, the forrest paths off the campsite a large enclosed dog walk and dog wash. Lots of dogs of all kinds on site and really friendly staff, who pop out to say hi to your dog. It was so dog friendly we booked to go back. Also studland beach great for dogs, grey hound inn at forge castle great food and true my dog friendly- dorset great for dogs and caravans.
I can't comment on CMHC site, as from reading this forum we had hunters moon booked, and people on here said go to Wareham forrest as no schoolyard next door, more facilities and cheaper- so we cancelled hunters moon- thank goodness they did it was great.

Hi Chippy, You should not have a problem on CMC or CCC sites, although just a very few privately owned sites do have breed specific bans. I have only encountered this once when we had a Staffy and that was in Bridlington.

I've stayed on a number of commercial & club sites with our Dog & the only proviso that I've ever seen is that you keep your dog on a lead and clean up after them, both of which I fully agree with. Never yet seen anything about what breed a Dog is except in France.
