Hi,

I have just fitted this in the awning rail today what I would like to know is will this stay in place when travelling on the motorway.

Thanks

Brian.

I only used to fit it into mine over the winter months. Didn't bother during the summer. I wouldn't think it would shift at towing speeds.

If I owned any I too would only fit while in Winter storage, but you could fit some awning rail stops if concerned, only a few £'s

    Hi Brian,

I've recently fitted this to my Hymer 580 GL which comes with only one awning rail. If at all possible cut too long and tuck in behind the grp rap arounds front and rear.

I've had one on the van for a couple of years now, it's never moved even at motorway speeds.

As a matter of interest I didn't fit it to protect the awning rail but to keep the side walls clean. It does work up to a point.

Thank you for your replies. I wanted it to stop the dirty drips coming down the side as I am forever cleaning the sides. Hope it won't move when travelling on Monday.

    A couple of pics.

We have slotted ours into the channel on both sides of the van and just leave it there most of the time without it moving at all during travelling.  It certainly stops the black streaks on the side of the van.

    Enjoy your trip on Monday.

Like Jill, We also have them fitted  in both sides, & never had a problem when travelling.

They do seem to help keeping the sides streak free too.smile

We've never bothered with them, but I am tempted.  We don't use our awning rail as we have a roof mounted cassette with a canopy.  We fit the sides to that.

    Hi

We have them fitted both sides and have done for three years now and they haven't moved on ours. They do stop the black marks from the rail on the sides of the van.

I've fitted one and leave it on all the time except when cleaning the caravan, or when taking our canopy with us on tour. I then give it a good scrub down too. The only thing that causes mine to move is if the wind is from the rear of the van.

You're welcome Briang.  It's always nice when posters come back to acknowledge when they've been offered advice as not all do so. smile

    Hi all

Just an update after our trip to Hillhead and returning home the awning rail protector did not move at all. Great bit of kit and cheap to purchase.

    Thanks to all that replied.
