I keep in daily contact with my grandchildren on FB Although they do tell me FB is really for old people! A friend who lives away was taken into hospital today, I wouldn't have known without FB and I sent her a get well message. Another distant family member showed me photos of her children's birthday party, that I would not normally have seen. My cousin, who also lives away, was able to show me photos of their new puppy, which will be grown before we can catch up in person in the summer. Nothing really personal is put on by me or grandkids. Don't say when I am going away. Unlike many on here who post of their travels all the time. What makes one site better than another, if you are posting on the internet you need to be careful, some of the posts I have read on here are far more personal than FB.

I only use FB in a very closed group of old colleagues who like to keep in contact.

Would not dream of putting anything on FB that the public might see.

Frankly I view all Social media thingies as risky and with deep suspicion Whats the matter with E Mail?  Would never use that for anything private either.  Will not touch internet banking with a very long Barge pole!

But I suppose using this Forum blows the above out the water?

Internet banking is great, TF. There are few as cautious as I am and I use it all the time. Used sensibly with a security package, the bank's own security as well, and only on my own home broadband, I feel it’s as safe as it can be.

I'm afraid, as you said, you have blown your privacy out of the window by posting a fair bit of info here and elsewhere. It’s surprising how much can be learnt about people simply by reading their posts on 2 or 3 forums. Even using different user names doesn't provide secrecy.  laughing

You might be able to learn something TW but you won't learn everything.....in fact you might be useless at deducing who was holding the candelabra in the drawing room....laughing

I don’t understand folk that use their real names and potential date of birth i.e. joebloggs46@ etc. as email addresses, In my view that’s really bad security.

I am concerned wrt to Facebook as although I put minimal personal info to my friends it’s appears to be the organisation itself that can’t trusted

Never had a FB account. It was set up by the CIA with Zuckerberg as the front man to gather intelligence on everyone they could. He was paid an astounding and indecent amount of money to work with them- this is the result.

If people are unsure if you are being monitored on the internet, just google how to blow up the queen, and wait and see what happens.

What happened when you tried it, Cariadon, as you surely must have to know that something happens?

Tw, I realise that you have remained here, and much for the same reason I am taking a greater interest here as well, and perhaps less elsewhere.  Its just a pity that this is so "Clunky and slow" Its very much a balancing act.

Its good to find Merve still here too!

Watch out because Face Ache is getting into everything.

I watch US TV and am now finding on the baseball pages that FB has an irritating logo on the bottom left of screen and during the course of a game will punch up comments by twats on their system. Here I instance one idiot who posted that he was present at the game but watching it on Face Ache -how cool is that?

Not at all would have been my reply!

Lord help us if  Mark -uckerberg (and I leave you to supply the missing letter) ever gets into UK sport.

From his meeting  with the US Govment, not sure if he knows what is going on, what info has been collected. sold to all and sundry. Seems the only ethos is "make as much money as possible" sod the consequences to participants. However you have to laugh at how gullible the participants are.
