Has anyone else experienced a popup inviting us to join the club? It keeps appearing every couple of minutes whilst browsing the CT Forum. Pretty stupid setup since I'm logged in as a member. Yet another example of IT incompetence.

Nope! I am using Windows which allows me to block pop-ups is this not the same with other systems? I will try on my iPad later. It doesn't happen on my Android phone either.

I had it pop up soon after logging in on my Android tablet. It has only happened once, but I agree that it is a bit bizarre to show it to an existing member.

    Yes, I’ve had the pop-up.

How pointless to put that on the screen of someone already logged in and using the site.

    iPad, Safari, iOS 11.3

PS, Bakers, I closed it on the X in the top right corner.

This is getting beyond a joke. Somebody, please, report my post to bring it to the attention of those who might be able to do something about it.

I definitely have a X, Bakers. I tried to post a screenshot but .... well you know how it goes. yell

Ŕeported as requested and asked that all comments on the thread be taken into account. It blocks my whole screen. Infuriating and then some.

I have also started getting it. There is an X to get rid but a bit annoying.

I have just logged in using my iPad and I did get a pop up that obscured the screen as I was logging in. I will highlight to Rowena.

    David

Edit:- Back on my Windows PC using Chrome and thought I would log out and log back in again but no pop-up.

Depends how often it occurs. I remain logged in and I have seen it just once yesterday,

I've had it three times already this morning and I've only just logged on. They'd better sort this PDQ before people consider the forum as unusable or perhaps that's the cunning plan.

The difficulty with some phones is being able to see the x close on a small screen especially because the colouring is so dark on the advert. I'm using a laptop just now so much better.

I use a Mac and I have an add blocker that a lot of sites complain about but this stupid pop-up has got through that. It's an added annoyance that I could do without.

I have now tried logging in using Chrome, Firefox and IE11 and no sign of a pop-up in Windows 10. I agree with Brue that is it quite difficult to see the cross to close it on say the iPad mini especially when the keyboard is on screen as well.

When I hit the 'join' button it immediately told me I was already a member and said I should log in but I am already logged in!

Do you think the staff are having a competition to see who can think up the most infuriating modification to forum members?

Wonder when the competition closes and what the winner gets.😊

Just had it for the first time this morning within 3 or so minutes of browsing whilst logged in on my android phone. Yes it's semi transparent. No keypad on the screen couldn't see X but as I now know it's there I turned to landscape, still couldn't see. Scrolled over and yes it was there but not easy to see.

Yes I think Cyberyacht may have hit the nail on head with his supposition 😉. Maybe as ?Forest says competition for staff - who knows? Does anyone care?

Edit it popped up quite regularly during a ?half hour? visit to the forum last evening around the time of my  posts on this thread.

Me too, using iPad. I am logged in as a paid up member. Perhaps some IT guru working for the Club would explain the need for existing members to be bombarded by this. It surely is not beyond the wit of man to programme the pop up ONLY to appear if the user is not a member or not signed in.

Frankly I am doubtful if such a device would encourage a non-member to join anyway. You should not market things by irritating people of any sort.

Would someone at East Grinstead please respond please?

There seems to be a general problem this morning with the slowness of the site, I've been unable to see if posts have gone through and the edit button is throwing up an error message.

Is the pop up appearing on the booking/site pages as this would be very off putting to anyone trying to use the web site.
