Protect your paintwork
This tip will already be known by many of the seasoned Caravanners but new folk may not. When putting out your clothes airer onto the outside of your Caravan window, buy a length of polyfoam (as that used for the domestic water pipes for frost protection), , cut to length and put it on the airer back strut that rests against the body paintwork of your caravan. This cushions the weight of the loaded airer and stops any damage to the van. Suppliers of polyfoam or similar brands, available at B & Q, Homebase, etc.,

We use a pair of old bathroom sponges. The weight of the loaded airer keeps them on place.

Hi bandgirl, My wife and I have caravanned since 1981 and have lost count of the number of Caravans we have owned and on each one have always used a window mounted clothes airer with this foam roll. It safely cushions the weight of the loaded airer and is such a simple low cost answer to a potential problem...Happy caravanning.
