Are we to assume that you have as much regard for the forum guidelines as the site rules?

    Three strikes etc.

It wasn't supposed to be, just a light hearted response to Chrystal. Personally I have never found it a problem.

This one does seem appropriate to your question MM.

Doesn't the original post just remind us and perhaps help to avoid two thirds of the major gripes on here over the last few years. Best not mention the other one.

It would only help to avoid the major gripes if the perpetrators read this thread which sounds as if someone is suggesting that CT posters might be the culprits. surprised

    1. Not bothered about early arrivals 'stealing' pitches as long as they have checked that it is OK to arrive early.

    2. Agree - well I would wouldn't I as I obey the 5mph

You might suggest from some reactions that there may be some truth in that.

However could it be that posters are hoping that the culprits read the thread and with a united front it may change bad habits.

I’m suggesting no such thing, BM. I think some reactions here are due to the tone of the OP rather than the sense of the content.

I also think it very unlikely that people who don’t normally come on CT, and they are by far the fast majority of members, will suddenly do so and get pangs of conscience. undecided

Have you not noticed that the same tone is taken with anyone and however they may raise a post that asks for adherance to the club rules.

I agree that the vast majority will not be changed by a few posts, but the majority have no need to change. We have no idea how many view the posts or what they may think. Just the regulars.

In answer to your first point, BM, no, I can’t agree. There are ways of wording requests so they don’t antagonise people and there are those that, by their tone, invite certain other responses.

I think we agree, as per the second point, that it's a pointless exercise.

If it is a pointless exercise, why does this forum take offence so easily? If any comment does not apply to you directly, there is no need to take offence.

The OP mentioned big powerful cars speeding. I have a big powerful car that does not speed on site, so I took no offence as it was not directed towards me.

Always find it a surprise how fast some caravans are dragged over the speed humps though and how loud the noise as it lands. Doesn't seem to stop the driver doing the same at the next hump.

I don’t think anyone needs to feel a personal connection with certain comments to realise the tone is liable to cause offence, BM.

Although you and I know the BM mentioned in the following post was not myself, would it be reasonable for me to take offence at the sarcastic nature of the post.

"I think we're familiar with the rules, BM, but you could have posted a link to them all in case we've forgotten.wink "

The recent post on speeding does seem to support the OP's intent, that not everyone is aware of the speed limit, or even cares, including the warden it appears in this case.
