Home or Away for Easter?

good luck, Rufs, enjoy
in, say, April, with hopefully decent weather and three months to tour, we would probably go Poole-Cherbourg and take a few days to explore some new places 'on the way down'.....it all depends on what you'll be doing and you might have in mind in the return trip...

Tks BB, this is a "test the water" trip so nothing too adventurous, Santander/Valencia region/Mazarron, we are taking our 4 legged friend so need to be mindful of his needs, e.g. dog friendly beaches etc, as i have said before, have gleaned lots of valuable info from this forum, and i think key is having Archies POI's locked into satnav & a good Michelin map, so all is good, ho! and ASCI.

We had planned to go to one our favourite CS's, near Malton but, sadly, we received the dreadful news that my sister-in-law died last Sunday and the funeral is arranged for the Tuesday after Easter, so we've had to cancel and will be travelling to the Cotswolds (without the caravan) on Easter Monday.

Home over Easter hols. Too expensive. Just back from Morris Leisure - Llanberis on their offer. Superb location, excellent pitches, immaculate facilities. Probaly Brecon CC next on Mid week discount. When you \re away 150+ nights, every penny counts.

Since retiring we don't go away at Easter - simply too busy. In addition, this year our son is moving flats over that weekend so it will be a case of hiring a van and doing a lot of DIY bed and furniture moving! Might have to suddenly go away after all!!

Going nowhere over Easter we rarely do unless its to see the kids and Gkids. However this year its because OH is today in hospital having a shoulder Op. Once he is well enough to travel and the weather a bit better I may honor him with my driving skills and take him somewhere but only if he does as he is told by the Dr which will be a first if he does.
So Easter will for me be gardening (weather permitting) + a bit of TLC for OH.

TG, yes all the best to OH, if it goes as smoothly as my stint last week it will be a breeze....
like him, I have a period of non driving (another 12 days) but playing golf today (in the drizzle) and at least now should be able to see which bush my ball went into....
enjoy whatever you decide to go for.....all things being well, we will point the compass south immediately following 'sign off'.....

Rufs, agree with David, a good first trip to get you underway....
Valencia is a lovely city, the Costa Azahar is a great place to put your feet down for a stint of some sort....Banicassim a particular favourite of ours, also golfed often in Torrevieja, La Manga area...nice part of the country....
easy trip from Santander. as David mentions, deserted roads, hopefully clear blue skies and plain sailing (literally) all the way.....
to paraphrase that actor chap......you'll be back

Caravan loaded, tow car packed just awaiting arrival home of wife and daughter from work and school respectively. Then off to Baltic Wharf for Easter.
Hope no traffic incidents like 3 weeks ago when the Avonmouth bridge had a smack on it followed by M5 northbound being closed bringing the M4 & Bristol to a standstill and taking 3x as long to get into BW from the M4 than the normal whole journey.
Booked to go to the new Being Brunel attraction at SS Great Britain, after bacon butties at Brunel's Buttery, walking from BW along the floating harbour.
The adventures us families have in school holiday times, just wot this caravanning lark is all about
Safe travels and enjoyable Easter to all out and about towing/mhing or otherwise

"...Hope no traffic incidents like 3 weeks ago when the Avonmouth bridge had a smack on it "
Must have been a particularly high tide.

Well OH recovering nicely, staples out on Tuesday and Physio on Thursday.
Need to re-acquaint myself with driving the MH and once Easter premier time has passed I may, only may, decide to take the MH out for a few days. Not sure where yet but Oban might be on the cards,( have to drive through Crieff and Comrie) been a few years since we have been there.
All those going away for the holidays and those already away, have a great time hope the weather is kind to you all and you don't spend too long in traffic jams (or any other kind of jam) Take care.

Bet there'll be a good few others thinking the same now, Moulesy.

Gosh I can't think that far ahead.
We are at home for Easter. I am quite pleased actually after seeing the weather forecast. Possible heavy snow in this area on Monday. We shall take each day as it comes.

Were at home for Easter, but for good reason.
It was my Mother in Law's (who lives with us) 93rd Birthday today. We have been playing it down somewhat. But what she doesn't know is there is a big party and meal for her tomorrow at a local gastro pub and the most fabulous cake waiting for her there
If I can I'll post a picture of the cake later tomorrow or Saturday

It’s Easter.... but it’s March, and cold-so what?!!
Our last outing was over the New Year so it’s now just as wet and just as cold-but that’s outside the van and inside it’s toasty and the Grandkids are smiling and looking forward to swimming and chocolate-OK maybe not in that order-and just enjoying being in the van because that’s different.
The home made Lasagne has been devoured, the Malbec is going down well and Sunday lunch, cooked in a wood fired oven, is booked.
Oh, and as regards the cost we are on a Club Rally so it’s just over £10 a night.

...as I said upthread, no vanning for us this week, family get together tomorrow and I cant drive anyway till Thursday (hopefully all clear on left eye lens replacement)....
but we are gagging to get 'properly away' and have been sketching out the diary (not something I normally do) as we have some stuff already marked up....
In laws' Diamond Wedding....'something special'....our Ruby Wedding, likewise.....concert in Hyde Park in July, an Owners Club meet in Rutland, also have some dates booked at Chatsworth, Hillhead, Henley, Crystal Palace, Baltic Wharf....
we are trying to squeeze in trips to Scotland, France, and Spain before year end and it all requires a bit of juggling.....and there's the other eye to fix too, sometime....that's a three week plus blank out as I can't fly or drive......looks like it'll have to be a cruise for convalescence....
hope everyone has a good Easter.....I got soaked on the bike yesterday and blooming cold too.....

Does staying on our seasonal pitch for Easter count as home or away?

Easter is traditionally the gardening week end. Lovely warm day here. Spuds, B Beans, Peas,Carrots, lettuce, Shallots all planted this morning ( under cover) and now tackling the borders and lawns. Let others pay the excess fees at Easter we will be in St Davids as soon as kids back and prices down.
