Aquaroll
To save filling the aqua roll almost everyday I bought a hose to connect directly to the van,but have since noticed that most people seem to be connecting the hose through the aqua roll rather than connecting direct to the van without the aqua roll, which is correct .advise would be welcome

It also means you have a buffer of available water if someone decides they need to 'share' your tap.

Only if you turn the caravan pump off when you go out. Otherwise in the event of a leak the aqua roll will just keep filling, as water is pumped out into your van. I also prefer the aqua roll method, our pump switch is by the door, so I just switch it off as we leave. To achieve the same affect with a direct connection you would have to turn the pitch tap off each time.
As when touring not all sites will have service pitches, we are carrying aqua roll and waste master anyway. I suppose the benefit of the direct connection is if you know you are only going to a service pitch, as it saves carting them about.

I prefer the aquaroll fed system for the reasons previously stated and it lives in the caravan at all times .
It is only used if we happen to be on a "free" service pitch but as I paid less than a tenner off Ebay I don't feel the need to pay for a service pitch to justify the purchase.

Because of the risk of blowing apart the internal pipework joints it is very strongly recommended to use a connection hose with a pressure reducer built in (Whale do / did produce one). The problem that I found when I used this method was that the water flow was drastically reduced to much less than I would get from the pump. By using the indirect Aquaroll method water pressure is whatever the pump provides with no risk to the internal pipework. A float valve in the side entry of the Aquaroll maintains a half full supply which is constantly topped up when water is drawn off.

There are 2 different systems, the hose you bought is not designed to be connected to the aquaroll.
The aquaroll system as mentioned above, keeps it topped up just above half and otherwise everything works as before,
For the reasons given above, this is our preferred method too.

A standard pressure reducing valve as used if necessary with domestic plumbing is adjustable for outlet pressure.
I can well imagine though that the overpriced caravan versions do not
Personally, in 3 months on a fully serviced pitch I have not found it an effort to turn on the the tap to fill the Aquaroll a couple of times a day.
