Hi everyone,

We're looking for some short quotes to potentially use in a future Club magazine article with recommendations of your favourite Club or CL sites for cycling and why. Are there any great routes you use from sites?

Many thanks. smile

Pembrey CMC, you have the park itself, and the Millenium coastal path will take you from Kidwelly to Swansea.

CL 332 Newhaven Lodge Farm, Buxton. From the corner of the site, easy access to the High Peak Trail and within a few minutes cycle join the junction with the Tissington Trail. Cycle down to Cromford on the High Peak Trail or cycle up to Buxton or go down to Tissington and Ashbourne on the Tissington Trail, good cycling even with the dog!

CL 1911 Very good basic CL, Street House Farm, York Road on A64 , Tadcaster. Sustrans route 665 goes past the end of the lane. Cycle into York past the racecourse and what was once Terrys chocolate factory, now posh penthouses and apartments, then alongside the river into York. You could also cycle the 'Universe', starting at the Sun and enjoy the countryside until you reach Pluto at Riccall or carry on to Selby.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far.

Chris, is it possible to email communitymanager@camc.com one or two of the pictures with you and your dog. Would be great to include in the magazine if possible. smile

From Baltic Wharf, Bristol we've cycled along the river Avon (the bridge to cross the river is very close to the site), first to the village of Pill, then on to Portishead, where there is a Marina, at the end of which there are views across to Wales.  Signposted all the way.

From Meathop Fell we've cycled into Grange-over-Sands and on to Cark airfield to watch the parachuting.  Mainly quiet roads.

We regularly cycle when caravanning, carrying our off-road bikes on the car roof. But when it comes to cycle routes to follow, we tend to use Geocaching locations, wherever we are - and we’ve never been disappointed with the diversity of the unusual places where it takes us. Sometimes the terrain is hard work, but it tends to keep us away from dangerous traffic and if you are keen on burning calories then off road cycling beats miles anytime. Then there’s the wildlife to be seen ...

There's a fabulous off road ride from the C&MC Lydford site to Okehampton. It incorporates the stunning Meldon viaduct.

That's The Granite Way toncor, we have done it the other way from Okehampton!

We always take our bikes with us when we visit Splash Farm CL in Lea Brook near Cromford. Part of the Cromford Canal has been restored, and is a great focal point for a longer ride, which can be linked to the Tissington Trail. There is a lovely cafe at Cromford, lots of industrial heritage, and superb wildlife viewing.

    We do quite a lot of cycling when away in the caravan. We like to stay at Maragowan C&MC in Killin and cycle the route that takes you down to Strathire Forest it is a lovely route and mostly traffic free the views are great. Also we always take our bikes when staying at Chester Fairoaks  and cycle in to the town and also along the canal route which is very good for cycling. Strathclyde Park C&MC site is also good for cycling as it is right next to the country park where there are plenty of cycle paths;

Willingcott CAMC site has a fantastic cycle path accessed directly from the site which takes you into Ilfracombe town itself. It's gradually downhill all the way and therefore uphill all the way back and there are some steep inclines coming back out of Ilfracombe to the path but the cycle path itself is very good

We cycled from Hurn Lane CAMC quite easily to Brean and to Weston-Super-Mare - it's on the road but it's okay and all fairly flat

We have also cycled from the Wirral CAMC site along the Wirral Way to West Kirby, Hoylake and New Brighton. Again, it's all fairly flat there

There are also miles of cycle paths near to the CAMC site at Southport which we have yet to cycle along but we have seen them on our visits to the Southport site before we had our bikes. Again, it's all fairly flat there and we will be cycling along them before too long laughing

Club site at Slinfold Sussex (no loo block) virtually situated on the old Guildford to Shoreham railway line.  (Downslink)

Easy access to villages, pubs, and tea rooms in either directions.

one or two road crossings that need a bit of care, otherwise trouble free.

The Strawberry Line can be accessed from the CMC site at Cheddar. Over 95% off road. About 11 miles to Yatton train station (cafe) and obviously 11 miles back.

From the Sutton on Sea club site, take a short cycle to the seafront at Sandilands and enjoy a few miles of traffic free sea side cycling to Mablethorpe with cafes and stop offs en route. Lovely sandy beaches and lots of fresh sea air all the way along. smile
