A trip to Little Baddow
The next leg go our 2014 tour was a brief trip to Little Baddows Farm CL, close to Chelmsford in Essex. This was a new part of the world for us so our visit provided an opportunity to explore the immediate locality around the CL.
The site is ideally located close to the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation so it will be no surprise that the morning after our arrival I was out early with the dogs for five mile walk along the banks of the canal. It was an absolutely stunning start to the day.
Soon after getting back to the site we decided to venture out again, but this time for a much longer eighteen mile walk along the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation to Maldon. Spending a tranquil afternoon walking by the canal observing nature and the inhabitants of the river was amazing. Mid walk we stopped for a pint at the Old Ship Inn at Heybridge Basin, a perfect way to relax and get our breath back.
On our final day I took the dogs out for a stroll before we headed into Maldon to have a wander around and look at the collection of Thames Barges and were also fortunate to see the stunning Carter's Steam Fair setting up, the tale of that day can be found here.
This trip was still in the early days of our blog, since then we have pitched up at over fifty sites around the UK. You can see the full story of our travels our Two Dogs and an Awning blog.

I'm a girl from Essex, NOT an Essex girl, great to see our beautiful county promoted this way. A walk in the other direction takes you in Chelmsford city, as from 2012, once, briefly, the capital of Roman England!
Did you try out the tea room at Paper Mill lock?
