Air in the pipe? No idea how to cure but I'd try opening both hot taps and run to see if it helps. I' far from technical 😉

I'd have thought both hot & cold taps are pressurised by a common pump. Isn't it just air in the system that you need to leave the hot tap running a while to get rid of. The hot taps on my caravan do gurgle and splutter a little to start with.

As Bakers 2 says - It sounds like an airlock. Make sure your cold water tank is full then run all your hot taps until the water is coming through smoothly, may take a lot of water. If it's an airlock you will solve it this way.  If not, a trip to the dealer's may be necessary.

    Best of luck

Hot water side has to fill the boiler first before it will come out of the taps so suggest you run it for 3-4 minutes to see what happens, once boiler is full it should start feeding the taps.

Also if its a Truma heater make sure the boiler dump valve has not activated in the cold weather.

Oakley, i am assuming you have a Flojet or Shurflo water pump, if so you've had some good advice already....

however, if your van is an AutoSleeprs with a submersible pump. I suggest you look at the AS owners forum as there are plenty of issues there with priming problems...

Thank you for all your replies. This is the first time we have used the motorhome so first time filling tanks, which we have done on our drive before our first trip tomorrow. He tried running taps etc. but the noise continued. He is going to start again today hopefully with more success. Will try other things suggested to us.

I would think there will only be one pump, these pumps can be noisy at times.  Is the noise coming from the pump, or could there be a pipe knocking against something?

the big clue is that there is no hot water, despite the pump trying to run, so could easily be a kinked pipe from the boiler?

OP does not actually say there is no hot water from the taps, only mentions the knocking noise?

sorry Kjell....eye surgery last Wednesday, probably a hangover, lol.....

it could be the hot pipe not properly secured and the pump is drawing in air and water....?

im assuming the boiler has filled properly and there should only be water getting into the hot system...
