Best sites for young families in the Lake District
Hi. I'm looking for some recommendations please for the Lake District. We have 3 children aged 9 7 and 5 and can't decide which site to book.
Many thanks Catriona

The club site at Coniston is nice, lots of woods to play in and just a few minutes walk from the lake shore.
Safe places to play on the lake beaches and off road walks into Coniston village with pubs and food. Trips on the lake and not far from Grizedale Forest (there is a club voucher for Go Ape there.)
Depends on what you like to do. Hope you find somewhere you all like.

Another vote for C&CC at Keswick. Open site with great views of the lake and surrounding hills. A short dry and safe walk into Keswick. Lots of shops and the main steets are pedestrianised which would be very safe for the children. You could then walk into the nearby park and walk along the river. A cracking town and so near to the site. Lake trips also available.

Castlerigg hall, plenty for young children, nature trails, young farm animals ect also a nice heated room with books and games with free wifi for the wet days.👍

The C&CC sites in Keswick are close to lots of indoor attractions if the weather is too wet for walking. Another alternative is the C&CC site at Ravenglass with short walks to the beaches or the Ravenglass to Eskdale railway.

C&CC site is prone to flooding, you have to bear this in mind when at 03.00 hrs you are asked to leave.........i

Whilst Arnside and Silverdale are nice locations, they are out on a bit of a limb and definitely not part of the Lake District.

This is an independant that is very good if you have kids:

I'm thinking the Ravenglass site - take the children on the train ride up Eskdale on the Ratty, and let them play on the sand dunes at Eskmeals.
