I remember seeing him in panto at Bristol Hippodrome, must have been early 60's. A great entertainer and, from all the tributes, a genuinely nice person who never spoke ill of others. Sad that his death should have been on what I believe would have been another great, Bruce Forsyth's 90th birthday.

Given his reputation for marathon performances, the best quote I've heard this morning was " he should have gone at 80 but they couldn't get him off the stage"!

    RIP Ken Dodd

Saw him in Blackpool early eighties, fun and laughter from beginning to end.

    RIP Sir Ken

A truly funny man. He lived in our town and when he decided to put on a show here, it was sold out in minutes. So another night (2 shows) was booked. I managed to see him at the earlier slot and true to form, he overran by a good hour! I heard later it was close to 1am when the second show finished! Every person in the audience was entertained without any foul language and left sobbing with laughter.

A one off. He was a great comedian with a beautiful singing voice who knew how to work his audience. Even if you had heard the jokes a hundred times you still found them funny because HE was funny. The mark of a true entertainer.

Wonderful Man. His last joke: he married his partner just before he died.  Thus denying HM Customs and Revenue some £3 million in Inheritance Tax revenue. 😎😎😎😎😎

I was a big fan after being taken to see his shows in the sixties. I have seen him on numerous occasions since then.

I count myself lucky to have seen him last October at The Grand Theatre Blackpool, you could tell his health was failing but then he was nearly 90 at the time and still had the audience in fits of laughter. We gave him a standing ovation at the end.

RIP Sir Ken, you can never be replaced.
