Rutland Water
We are thinking of visiting the area around Rutland Water some time this summer. I'm having difficulty finding any CLs or small sites nearby.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Must accept dogs and preferably have EHU and at least a loo.

Sorry M, bit of a blank area for us. Only time we visited RW, we were driving home from Ferry Meadows. Nellie might know of a suitable CL.

Moulesy we always use Stamford CAMC site, it's one of our favourites, but no facilities. Some friends did stay on a local CL but again no loo. There is a small site just up the A43 at the farm shop, but can't tell you much about it, as I've only driven past. The area is rather short on CL'S.
Edit... there is a toilet at the visitors centre/ cafe at Top Lodge which is open during the day.

Don't use the cl site in Greetham. Steep entrance slope with gate at top need to stop at bottom to open. pitches are along side farm track which is extremely muddy if wet and verry dusty when dry. water taps are on the other side of track from pitches as is water for grey waste track can be busy first thing in morning

When I looked at the others at the bottom of the page Stretton Lakes looks good too and The Lodge Trust. We intended to stay over that way a few years back but only managed a drive through, lovely countryside which we used to visit years ago.

We stayed at The Lodge Trust last May. We enjoyed it very much. The site isn’t massive but the surrounding land is free to wander around. Nice walk on quite lane behind the site. The charity run cafe is excellent. There is also a CS of the other club on the property. The village is nice and had a community post office/shop and a nice pub serving good food. We stayed 3 nights as we wanted to visit the Ospreys on the lake. We would certainly return.

We stayed about 6 miles north of Rutland water on the Wymondham Windmill CL, it has all facilities but maybe not a shower. The tearoom serves meals and a good breakfast, dog walk from site and free entry to the windmill.
Slightly sloping, grass only when we were there and with good view.
Great walk around Hambleton area waters edge.

Sorry, Moulesy, but I don't know if any with facilities near Rutland Water. The Lodge Trust has been recommended on CT , and I thought of trying it later this year.

We have booked the Lodge Trust for later this year.
if you phone to book they will not ask for a deposit, if you use their on line booking, which you need to go to their main website to find, you will be asked for a deposit.
You book a specific pitch, but if you are not familiar with the site, there is no plan to show which pitch is which. They are all hardstandings.

When are you there, Kjell? If it's before June cold you let me know which are the "better" pitches?

We're staying there in mid May for an Owners' Club meet...I'm sure M would be made most welcome

We stayed there last year, Try to avoid Harvest time as the tractors are up and down the lane nearly all night and cut the fields well into the night otherwise not a bad site toilets are are little spartan and only one toilet and shower for the boys, not sure about the girls but the boss thinks it was 2 toilets one shower, but we would stay again.
There is also a CL/CS at one of the car parks. Away from the car park and approach road, but only a short walk down to lakeside. Sorry but cannot remember which one. I think it is a CCC site, also cannot be certain if there is a toilet. Excellent location though.
We looked around a few sites as we wanted an extra couple of nights for the Bird Fair that we did not know about until we arrived in the area. We were not impressed by many.

Doesn't seem to have any loos, wye, looking on the club's web site.

I notice that there's no reviews for the site. Perhaps you could do one, PeeJay.
It wouldn't suit Moulesy, though as it doesn't appear to have a loo.
