Vin number

Hi All, Ordered a New caravan which is being delivered to the dealer on the 16th of next month.

Today we had an order confirmation sent to us and the vin number is on it. 

How would they now this before delivery is my question.

    Because it’s already in the process of being built?

    Because the manufacturer knows exactly what number they have allocated to the van?

    I don't see that it’s a mystery and you’ve got the number in advance so you can get the insurance arranged. Surely that's good?

    Dealers get a list of ordered vehicles from the manufacturers with all the relevant information including vin numbers that are allocated to each vehicle as well as expected delivery dates

    i bought my very first brand new car many years ago and the dealer gave me a list of registration numbers that i could pick from and hadn't even sent the order to the manufacturers.

    Don't be too suspicious Colin.  However, make sure you get a thorough handover checking EVERYTHING works,  if something doesn't work get them to fix it before you take delivery.  Then go for a local trip for a weekend using everything in the caravan and the awning if you have one (I was once given a wrong size!).  If this is your first caravan, welcome to our hobby.cool
