Thetford C260 Toilet - Flush pump location

Hi all,

Note this is *not* an electrical problem, its a mechanical pump problem.

I'm having difficulty in finding just where the pump is located in the C260.  It appears to be within the flush tank itself (unlike the C250) but I cannot find a way to access it.  One possible way seems to be to remove the lable on top of the flush tank and then to remove the electrical panel below and hopefully this will give access to the pump.

Has anyone actually found the location of the pump on the C260 and if so am I going about it the right way?

Thanks!

Hi Sep, see  no response yet; unusual.  I have a C250 and as you may know access to the pump is through the external hatch and then remove the waste tank and you  see it at the bottom of the water cistern with a black drain pipe attached (Note, there are 2 black pipes the other drains the water tank).  Doubt if you access the pump via the top of the cistern by removing the label. this will only expose the electrical gubbins and not give you access to the internals.  Try calling Thetford, your caravan manufacturer or probably more helpfully a local dealer.  The Thetford parts diagrams were not much helpundecided.

yes if you take  the label of top 2 screws hold electrical panel take them out and lift panel up and disconnect wires and you can then lift. pump out .

Yes the 250 is more accessible to the pump but I've now worked through and found the location of the pump.  It *is* within the tank and the access is actually not too difficult once you have the confidence to do it...

1 Carefully lift and retain the adhesive silver sticker on top of tank to reveal electrical connection panel

2 Using screwdriver in slot gently lift this out and remove both the connections

3 remove screws that were concealed below the panel

4 Take the complete unit out and pull the vacuum unit from that and remove balck grommet to free up wires to pump

5Take water pipe off pump and either rinse pump out thouroghly and tap gently ( I used a dilute bleach solution) chack its working and re-assemble OR if you can't get it to work replace pump unit.  I was fortunate - the first option worked

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.  I got the 'van toasty warm to start with as plastics can be a bit brittle in the extreme cold we've just had.
