Apart from wind it has been sunny here today as well, thankfully no more snow. Numbingly cold though, nothing is thawing yet.

David, This won't be of much use to you right now, but I've started using a 26 day month for my prescriptions. That means I'm slowly building up a stock of medication. Then if I'm going away I bung a request in with a note attached pleading "Holiday Requirements" That way I've got enough to see me through having say a couple of 'three week' holidays close together and I can put an on-line request in the second I arrive thro' the front door.
I reckon that I'm not draining the NHS of funds, cos I'll use all the stuff anyway, but having a diabetic based problem away from home would cost a darn sight more !
Give M my best wishes, I've only been Type 2 for 28 years and using night-time insulin for 16 !

Thank you Brian. Until a few years ago Margaret was just on medication. When she had her heart operation they put her on insulin whilst she was in hospital and afterwards, like you, she was on night time insulin. Unfortunately last year she started taking medication for a rheumatic condition which had an affect on her sugar levels which meant she had to start day time injections. The only positive is that she has been able to give up the Gliclazide! I am sure we will harvest as we go along. It's not so much a problem getting the prescriptions but the fact that pharmacies, at least round here, don't keep enough stock so we are always going backwards and forwards. Recently she had to have a new tester because the testing strips for the old machine were unavailable.

I managed to get through my shift yesterday evening without any problem and they let me go on time, well nearly on time. It was 20:05 by the time I got back to the shop after the last delivery. Then I had to go to Tesco Shoreham to collect my wife before returning to our caravan.
She bought a hairdryer whilst at Tesco. It's a 1.2 kw travel one. We're not sure if it can thaw out our drain pipes yet but we'll give it a try now that it's nearly daylight.

I've just finished posting on the other thread of caravan vs. house and hope its given you all food for thought!

It was still snowing when I went to bed last night, so this morning we have a good few centimetres of the white stuff! It's also foggy, so don't think we will be going far. Perhaps a duvet day.
Take care anyone travelling today.

More snow over night but the Easterly wind has moderated and the temperature has climbed to zero degrees. Haven't seen the forecast for the rest of the country yet but if your travelling take care.
Hope your cold improves HD
Nice to hear from you B2

Air temperature +3 which is about the same as the sea temperature at the moment. Clear blue sky so the snow is melting apace. People will be worrying about flooding soon I fear.

Managed to get home from Poolsbrook CAMC Site safely yesterday. The wardens did a brilliant job of clearing the acces road slope and we rang our storeage at home and apparently tbey were gritting the access road as we spoke! Snow was forcast later on in the day at home yesterday so we 'saw a window of opportunity' and went for it.
M1 and A/M42 were clear so we had a good journey. Had we have left it another day we would have still have been stuck. Snow has come down at home overnight and I'm guessing the M42 is difficult today. Apart from the frozen water hose between the tap on pitch and the aquaroll (we gave up with the aquaroll and hose on Wednesday), the only other casualty was a lost cover for the tow bar. It must have got blown away with the wind! We were due for a new one anyway - it was looking a bit old and tired.

Glad you made it home safely David. You are lucky your storage site grits the entrance. We took our van back to storage after a trip in December, roads had been ok, but storage compound still had deep snow. It was fun getting the van back into its space between another van and a motorhome.

Still snowing here, light snow granted but we were supposed to be snow free today
Will have to get the car out today and take a run into town to check out the roads ready for our early morning drive to Glasgow and to pick up more milk.
Will also need to put a wash load on as hate to come back to it. A quick tidy up and hoover will be required again.
Glad to hear you got back safe and sound DSB

More snow, couple of cms overnight, and still about minus 1. I don't think CY's warmer weather is reaching us till tomorrow. Birds fed and watered and queueing up to fill their beaks. Very dull and still some wind, so unsure if we will venture out.

Snow stopped around midnight having been fairly consistent for the previous 12 hours. Yesterday morning I cleared the snow from the paths and put grit down but that is all covered even deeper than it was before! Difficult to say how much snow we have had as the wind has been pushing it around. No immediate signs of a thaw on the ground but just signs of a few drips where it was overhanging the gutters. The sky is very grey, you could be mistaken for thinking there was a load more to come! At least the wind seems to have abated. I don't think we have to go out today so that is a bonus!

Not an option for me, HD. If I'm on the rota, I'm expected to be there! Our customers still order pizzas regardless of the weather and need us there to deliver them!

Our eldest son said they have closed his office in MK so he hasn't got to get into work this morning.

Could you not upgrade your caravan, David, to a newer model that has a built in onboard tank?

Thanks H&T. We didn't know what to expect with the storeage. I rang up to see what the roads were like and Charlotte told me they were 'gritting as we speak', so I was really pleased. The wardens at Poolsbrook were brilliant too. Glad we're back safely now though.

The problem with freezing was not with the aquaroll (which we have an excellent insolated jacket for), but the hose from the site tap to the aquaroll (Serviced pitch). The site tap itself was also frozen.
Not really bothered about an on-board water tank, to be honest. I like to keep water outside the van as much as possible. I also am not a fan of connecting the water hose directly to the van...... I'm old fashioned... I like my aquaroll. 😀😀

Glad everyone seems to have survived the weather so far,we have had more snow since 1400 yesterday(friday)than any previos days ,it finally stopped about 2200,rush hour yesterday must have been a bit fraught for those going home as when i took Rosa out this morning at 0730 the snow was about 8inches and there were abandoned cars every where,at least the bitter wind has gone and it looks like a slow thaw is taking place,

They do if they've got nothing else to eat in their home and can't or don't want to go out because of the weather!

As I said in my post above lazy people, there was enough coverage for days saying what was coming.
Get out to the shops before and buy in provisions no excuse. We always have enough provisions in for at least a week, between freezer and cupboards.
