What are you all up to

It's a lot colder today, the wind chill factor makes all the difference.
I could have done with this outfit for walking the dog.

Some more snow through the night, blown about in the wind. Some light flurries this morning and quite windy. We're snug and warm in the van, and doing all our washing up etc in the shower block. All taps frozen up including those on services pitches, wonder if those on them will get a refund?

Glasgow is now closed until 3pm today when they will review it again. Conflicting information coming from some agencies so very worrying, one minute you get that your flight is going the next its delayed. Even on Thomas Cooks own website last night they contradicted themselves on information.
Hope you/they get it sorted really quickly TG

Just back from my walk. The wind was stronger than it looked through the window but not gale force by any means. Hers a picture of Ordsall Hall I took as I walked past.

M80 still struggling to be cleared because of HGV's not heeding the warning yesterday.
One car driver they interviewed said he left Aberdeen at 4pm and got stuck at 8pm on the M80 and has spent the whole night there. Why on earth did he even attempt it,
the RED Alert was issued before he left Aberdeen, absolutely ridiculous, totally irresponsible behavior.
Why do the Police in this country not do what they do in other countries and stop vehicles other than emergency ones when its this bad. If they had done this yesterday, the road crews would have been able to clear the main roads and they would have been open again today. Instead it will take twice as long to free them and then clear the roads.

Me too OP, even if the airport opens though that's of no use if you can't get to it.
Saw on the TC website that flights from East Midland have been cancelled too.
Just had another very heavy shower but the suns out again and temp seems to be rising a bit.

I cannot see it opening anytime soon TG if it is like up here. Still below zero here and back to intermittent heavy snow, though there was a bit of a thaw earlier and the sun keeps coming and going.
However, we are quite high up above the river, so maybe not so bad at the airport.
Looks like we are almost out of the red area now, so things are slowly improving.
No wind here at the moment, presumably we still have that to look forward to!
I have put out a large plastic board to put the bird food on as the birds were struggling to stay on top of the snow when eating, we have about a foot of snow lying on the deck where we feed them.

Not much more snow, but bitterly cold and windy. It’s taken nine hours to “do up “ - milk and feed - as troughs and water pipes were frozen. It usually takes 4 hours.
I’m snug and warm in the house, but the drains from the sinks and the water to the toilet are still frozen. The house is low priority. With a wood burning stove and solid fuel Aga it’s warm and toasty downstairs but rather chilly upstairs (central heating here = opening the door from the hall to the stairs ).
Soon it will be time for afternoon doing up.

Yes. Yesterday we cleared the lane and much of the yard of snow (shoved with loader bucket low down) and gritted. The tanker was a bit later (10 pm not 7) but got up OK. Today acces is fine - vet and postman made it). It’s just the biting wind freezing anything. We’ve heaters in buildings (some purloined from the house and at least one using a caravan gas bottle). But it seems endless.
All I can do is provide hot food.

Your right Kj, Glasgow airport closed for the remainder of today to enable further clearing of runways. Also lots of airline staff and airport staff been unable to get into work with many roads still closed. Just waiting now to see if the flight for tomorrow has been rescheduled. There are hundreds of folk stuck out in the Canaries and elsewhere waiting to get back home so guess the pressure is on for the airlines to try and get a flight out.

Sitting in the van here in Hunters Moon Dorset watching the snow coming down -4 here at the moment no water all frozen the warden has put a tap in the toilets so that you can get drinking water. Looking very pretty. Went to tesco earlier and coming back to the site the road outside the entrance is white and the anti lock brakes came on trying to stop missed the entrance only doing 30mph. 1st time in the snow nice and warm in the van aldi heating marvellous. 😀😀😀

From a Nigel Slater article on Coq au Vin.
"Whenever I have eaten this in its natural habitat it has always come with wide, flat noodles, and I see no real reason to alter that. My usual choice is to plump for steamed potatoes, for the simple reason that I like to squash them into the gravy with my fork."

Deep joy. I have just booked three nights at Rowntree Park. Now then, didn't someone start a thread about optimists.........
