-4C here this morning. Bembridge harbour on the Isle of Wight is frozen and yesterday there were a flock of Brent geese grumbling on the slipway at my sailing club that they may as well have stayed in Svalbard.

Snowing again this morning and still about minus 3. No sign of the sun today and very windy. Just been to top up the birds feeders and they were reluctant to move out of the way. Was thinking of going shopping but will see how things develop. It will be a major exercise to defrost the car. Might just hike to the local Co-op.

Good decision to stay put Brue, extra day at RP can't be bad.

-7°c this morning, and strong winds, some snow on and off. Very cold walk with the dog although he didn't seem to mind.
Not looking forward to the walk to work, mind you its not far!

Took daughter to bus station at 7, estate roads still all snow but main roads clear, it was also a clear sky so is that it I thought? Well - no, it's been snowing for the past 45 minutes and the wind is really fierce now, -4C which with those winds feels far lower. All schools closed round here.

What am I doing today, same as yesterday sat watching a snow blizzard. I would say at the moment today is worse than yesterday here.
Glasgow is now closed until 3pm today when they will review it again. Conflicting information coming from some agencies so very worrying, one minute you get that your flight is going the next its delayed. Even on Thomas Cooks own website last night they contradicted themselves on information.
All pretty academic really as we can't get out the village just now, and its getting worse. At this rate we won't get to Glasgow tomorrow.
OH sorted car hire we had booked. Just in case others ever get a similar problem. The rental company will only keep your car booking live for a few hours. They will then let the car go (even if you inform them) this means you then have to make another booking, of course as this is then last minute the cost rises greatly (£100 +) thankfully the agent we had refunded the full cost of the booking, some will not. As we are not sure now of when we will fly we have decided not to book another car until we are at the airport ready to fly.
Had a call this morning from youngest son who lives on the pennines, no water, pipes frozen, house frozen as no heating. He lives in a fairly new build property a 3 storey town house, however the boiler and pipes all run through the garage which of course is below freezing just now. Thankfully with a bit of advice from Dad and commonsense from son now all fully restored. The road outside his house is impassable so no one at work or kids at school. Seemingly they still have lots of Lego to build
so now the heating and water are sorted they can enjoy their second day off.
Keep safe and warm all those out and about.

I also saw that the National Grid is asking for more gas to be supplied, not much solar power in this weather, so i would think all the gas fired power stations are on line,be interesting if the wind farms are working as they cannot cope with much above a breeze either,

hope it all get stored for all of you.

My solar panels are still covered with snow, so I guess most local solar farms will be. The wind farms are not producing much as wind gusts are too high. Our standby gas powered power station is working flat out. Talking to a mate, our Southern offshore gas platforms are also flat out. I guess from what he said imports from Norway are at a high level.

Watching the weather. So far not too much snow with roads clear. Wind is picking up and blowing existing snow about. Waiting arrival of storm Emma later today when things will change. See the barometer falling rapidly. In doors, wood burner going. Milk and Bred plentiful. All gone by early next week we hope. Glad we were away in Van last week and not this one.Was walking up Snowdon this time last week.

Just back from an expedition to the Co-op to get some milk and other essentials. Took almost as long to get kitted out with multiple layers, boots, walking pole and pack + disrobe on return, as it did to do the shopping.😂 Estate roads are snow covered and very slippery, main roads gritted and clear. The local parish council workforce (4 strong) have been doing a great job of clearing and gritting pavements in the village. So once you got there it was reasonably safe. I think I will leave the car snow covered for now, probably safer on the drive. Although we have four wheel drive, everybody else doesn't.

Just a smattering of the white stuff in Salford. I’ll be going for my usual 3 mile walk in Salford Quays at lunch time. Shouldn’t be to slippery and I’ll be well layered up. Looking out of the window there doesn’t seem much of a breeze so should be okay.

OH went along to our local Lidl on foot about an hour ago but has not yet returned. Beginning to think I might have to tie a brandy keg round my neck and venture forth.
