Caravan tyre inflation devices

I have gone back to using a foot pump because I found various 12v pumps tended to blow the fuses in cars. Hopefully you will only ever have to adjust the pressure by a few pounds so not that difficult with a foot pump.

we just use the car one, got it off amazon. Check your 12V max wattage, our car is rated 100W max.

If using your car 's 12v pump don't forget to keep your engine running.

I have had great performance from a Topeak Joe Blow Sport 2 track pump on my 65 psi caravan tyres. I carry it for the bike but it easily suits putting the odd few top up psi in the van's or car tyres. Pricing varies so shop around; Halfords are often competitive but far from it today.
At home I have a 12 V DC RAC 900, but its too much a lump to carry about and needs clipping directly onto a battery as it pulls 30 Amps, way over a car's 12 volt socket. Another good bit of kit but quite expensive.

not an expert but wouldn't it drain the battery? I always have the engine running as I thought that's what would happen?

I use a Michelin Rapid, that I bought from Halfords some years ago.
It has no problem up to 45psi and I have used it up to 60psi but then as Nellie says you need to keep the car engine running, or better still I use the 12v socket in the caravan while it is on charge.2 -
A couple of points about the Ring digital compressors.
I too have had good service from my Ring RAC600 so I bought a new one for our second car, this was the current version RAC635 the valve adaptor on this new one had a pressure release button but was not as good as the old one as it was impossible to screw on/off of the valve without losing pressure. It could just be a faulty unit but I sent it back and found an old model RAC600 (amazon) version which works fine.
ALSO The 12 Volt sockets in my caravans have been fed from a 10A fuse in the fuse box so plugging a compressor in to the caravan is highly likely to blow this fuse, I use the car.
The engine really needs to be running to give "more gusto" as mentioned but I have found that at around 60psi the compressor can "stall" at start up if the supply isn't at it's best.

I have had one of these for a few years now. Link I choose this one because at the time it was what the AA/RAC patrols were using. Not the cheapest, can't be used in an accessory socket because of the current it draws but is far superior to any plug in model.
Very much a case of you get what you pay for

Oh has done vehicles and caravan plus 3 wheelbarrow tyres 2 trailers,he has just done a count 20 wheels so far but does use a large mains compressor 24ltr tank and just finished (men and toys comes to mind) but he does keep a small 12v in his car and I have one in mine.

I've a Ring 12v RAC 900 -- Best inflator I've ever owned. Motorhome or Caravan tyres are inflated in next to no time. Car tyres in even less time. It's so easy to use, Just clip it on to a vehicle battery's terminals, none of this worrying if the cigar lighter fuse is going to blow. -- Great piece of kit.
