We have an alde 3020 heating system in the caravan. Forgetting about the unit heating water does anyone know what the unit would use in watts to continually power the heating system for one hour if we don't throttle back the power input to the caravan i.e. Allow the system to draw up to 3kw.

Potentially 3KW hours as it is running at 3kw for an hour. Is that really what you wished to know?

However once the boiler is actually up to temperature the heating elements will turn off until the heating fluid has cooled somewhat. How long between bouts of reheating fluid depends on the insulation of the caravan and difference between outside and inside temperatures. I suppose that it is a bit like how long is a piece of string really.

In mild weather once desired temperature is reached within the caravan the heating will use very much less.

No that's not what I am asking. How much will the heating unit use if it doesn't reach temperature for a full hour and runs continuously. The 3kw is the max the caravan will draw without throttling it back - the heating unit doesn't use 3kw an hour. I am trying to find out how much the heating boiler uses in one hour

The Alde 3020 on 3kw will use 14Amps which is about 3250watts at 230v........I think

The heating element will never run continuously though. It will heat boiler to maximum, and will not start to heat again until the coolant in the boiler drops below a certain temperature and then the cycle will start again. How long between cycles varies greatly on size of caravan, layout of the individual heating system including pipe locations, level of insulation, ambient temperatures ..........

The reason I’m asking - we are away in the caravan this week. Last night and today outside temp is between minus 6 and minus 1 at highest. The inside temp is a constant 22. The heating pump has been running 95% of the time to keep us warm.

Wondering what the cost of running the heating continuously is for the site?

i need to pour a drink and stop thinking nonsense thoughts but if there are more and more modern caravans with powerful heating systems using sites over winter the costs must be growing substantially for sites compared to a few years ago.

Trying to figure out the wattage per hour of the boiler if working at full capacity as it must be right now

The pump will be on the 12v system and as EasyT has intimated the boiler may not be running when the pump is. The thermostat on the heating fluid is separate from the wall thermostat.

To answer your OP 3250 watts. Or 52p at the price per unit I pay. Of course not in reality!

3kwh would cost us 39p,so depends on the cost per kwh to the Club.

We have a meter in our van that records our use, on a cold November day, we can easily use 40kwh, which would include heating, hot water, cooking, fridge, TV, lights and battery charger.  Our van is  a large twin axle, 10 years old so not as well insulated as newer vans, and has Alde heating that uses max 2kw.

Overnight we set it down to 13 degrees.

In the temperatures we have right now, I would think 50kwh per day total use would not be out of the question.  On our tariff that would be £6.50.

Not really as it depends on many factors. Given the present very cold weather but the sun providing some heat during the day I would hazard a guess of around £6 - £7 a day. But the weather is very cold!

I live beyond the gas mains so can’t claim the duel fuel discount! Of course there are so many variables here, your meter is going to be more accurate but non of us know what deal the club gets on it’s power.

everything electric will be rated by watts/kw per hour. if you put a 3 kwh kettle on at home and keep your finger on so will not turn off it will cost 3x the price you pay per kw over an hour so if your rate is 50p per kw per hour it will cost £1.50. well I think it is anyway. it doesn't matter what the rate is to a site as you have paid for the use of the electricity in your site fees. relax and enjoy.

I would think if a site was busy and everyone was trying to keep warm in this weather, the site supply  may well trip on overload.

However, it seems the weather has caused many to cancel, so the hardy few should be OK.

I've not been in the caravan with current temperatures but certainly low enough to cause a frost in the morning. Even then we had our heating on the 1Kw setting all night and day and it kept us warm inside.
