At the moment I have a huge amount of unused available credit, more than a whole years worth of wages, so  a long way off any kind of financial difficulty. It's more than enough available credit to tide me over if emergency should arise. If I needed more I could easily get it, the bank keeps telling me that they can offer me loans at very favourable rates if I want it!

We've had one or two flakes at Poolsbrook CAMC Site, but nothing has 'stuck' yet.  However it is very cold.  We were going to have a short walk in the Country Park, but we were too cold.  Got one or two photos though...

Managed to get back over the Pennines without mishap. Plenty of non sticking snow flurries in North Yorkshire and around Huddersfield. A nice short break, well worth the trip.

Some of the logos on the vehicles we passed kept us amused.

T K Maxx had a sign on the back of one of theirs saying "Does My Chassis look big in this?" but the best one we saw was from a local greengrocers "Live Life on the Veg"smile

Bright and sunny here but colder than the last few days, no snow at the moment long may it last.

Started sorting out clothes for our up coming trip to Lanzarote, trying NOT to take toooooo much this time laughing I say that every year but fail miserably.

Dentist and hygienist for both of us this lunchtime, all clear and no work required. Nice shiny clean teeth to go on holiday with.laughing

Bit of shopping on the way back home, then back to sorting out clothes again.

Local Council have had their meeting Re: the garden rubbish collection they have decided not to charge £25 per bin now, instead they are going to charge £35 surprisedyell so one of the bins will be returned and we will retain 1 (have to) but we will not be paying for it to be emptied.  We have a small trailer which we will take to the recycle centre just up the road from us. Lots of protest from locals with many organising dumping rubbish outside the council offices, wonder if it will come to anything.

Just  be  careful,  TG,  that  they  have  not  ( or  do  not )  put  a  charge  on  ALL  trailers  using  the  various  tips  not  just  those  owned  by  commercial  companies.  And  make  sure  the  tipping  o/side  the  offices  ain't  on  CC TV  --  the  fines  will  out weigh  any  charge  increases  I'm  sure.

We had the odd snow flurry during the night, but none on the ground when we got up although it was a  little bit colder than yesterday. Packed up in the dry and ran through a few short flurries on the way down to Teeside. Most snow on the ground was around Alnwick.

TG, we managed to get one of the pitches where you recommended, thanks.

ABM, no charge YET on small trailers but it may well come.

WN glad you got back across the Pennines safe and sound, my youngest son lives at Penistone, not looking good for them overnight and tomorrow.

NTH, glad you got down to White Water ok, hope you like the pitch in that area. Always difficult recommending to someone.

Just watched the forecast for our area for the next few days, not looking good. We are used to bad weather but don't want it when trying to get to the airport early Thursday morning. Oh well here's hoping they have given worst case scenario.undecided

Glad that both you David & Brue got to your sites safe and sound. It might just be a case of sitting tight till the worst has past, WN.

Hope that you make it to the airport without mishap, TG. Pitch is fine, just wish the wind was from the West and it would then be a good bit quieter, traffic wise. There's supposed to be a rally on site at the weekend!yell Wonder how many will make it should the snow persists.

Well, with the weather closing in I have felled yet another tree to use as logs for the fire.

Hopefully will not die of hypothermia this year as a result.

Trunk is down, needs splitting for the logs, kindling out of the branches and the canopy ready for the tip.

Stay warm folks, the cold is nearly here.

We had heavy snowfall in Gatwick whilst we were hitching up and then it stopped just as we set off. We got to the site at Brighton at 12 noon, checked in and pitched our caravan. The afternoon was spent getting the awning up, unpacking the Shogun and getting settled in for our 18 night stay here. We found a pitch with the awning facing south so that we can get the sun in the awning all day. The weather was changeable all day: snow flurries followed by sunshine and then more snow flurries.

It's not just the £25 that concerns her, cariadon. It's having to find space to pack away additional furniture and of course, the extra work in packing an additional item!

The bank seems very happy with my financial position, cariadon and doesn't mind me moving debt around between different accounts. Indeed, it makes financial sense to move debt from an interest bearing account to an interest free account even though it may mean less profit for the bank. I have an excellent credit rating which makes me a high value customer for the bank. This means that I can get credit at very favourable rates. Actually, the bank does make some money out of it because of the transfer fee. I paid the bank £99 transfer fee to move £2500 overdraft from my interest bearing current account to my interest free credit card account. It was worth my while because at £36 a month interest, it will save me £108 over a three month period. So after 3 months, I will have a profit of £9 and a further profit of £36 per month thereafter for the next 12 months. So this transaction can ultimately get me over £200 profit over the next 15 months!

To celebrate this profit, I've just booked two nights at Littlehampton CMC site from 6th to 8th April!  My first 21 nights at Northbrook Farm seasonal pitch expires on 6th April which is soon after Easter, so peak season, cost £54.80 for the 2 nights. Email confirmation of this booking now received! It's always best to plan well ahead, don't you think?

We've decided it's best to continue using Littlehampton CMC site for our two nights away every 21 nights. It's very convenient for my commute to work as well as being a full facility site, so well worth the money. I have accordingly booked Littlehampton CMC site for 29th April to 1st May and got a much lower cost deal! £37 for those two nights.

Lancing Fruit Farm CL is closest to where I work but we don't want to book there because it's unreliable. Last time we were booked to stay there, the site owner cancelled our booking with only one days notice because of the weather. With only one days notice it was difficult to find another site with availability because of it coinciding with a weekend when sites get fully booked. CMC sites are much more reliable provided you book well in advance.

Granted, Lancing Fruit Farm CL is cheaper at £12 per night and worthwhile if you don't mind the risk of the site owner cancelling your booking because of the field being waterlooged by heavy rainfall. However, this doesn't suit us. We don't want the risk of being stranded with nowhere to go, so it's CMC sites for us from now onwards! It's worth paying the extra £6.50 a night for peace of mind, knowing that you have a booking confirmation regardless of the weather!

Why not, SteveL? My credit report shows that I'm only presently using 62% of my available credit. So I have a lot of unused available credit, should I need it. Fortunately, I don't need it at the moment. I've already paid the site fee for our 18 night stay here on Brighton CMC site. So there's nothing more to pay until 6th April when I'll have to pay £54.80 to Littlehampton CMC site for two nights before moving back to our seasonal pitch in Northbrook Farm. This is because on expiry of our 18 night stay here in Brighton, that takes us to 16th March when we'll be moving to our seasonal pitch. The seasonal pitches at Worthing and Gatwick are all paid up for a whole year, nothing more to pay. So I reckon I'll have well over £400 per month saving from my existing spend on full site fees. That money can substantially reduce the present level of debt. Furthermore, there'll be further saving when the electric car is delivered to me that will raise another £225 per month.

When lenders look at my credit report, they see a good sound financial position. That fact that I'm using only just over half the money available to me suggests that I'm not totally reliant on credit and that I have enough income from other sources. This makes me an excellent risk to them hence the favourable credit deals that I'm getting!

Don't forget, before you jump down my throat over my finances, that even if I did lose my job, I still have considerable income from my three pensions,  enough to be able to keep up the minimum payments on all my card accounts. There is therefore, no way, that I can ever be just two wage payments away from bankruptcy as someone on here has suggested. Also, even in the unlikely event that I was made redundant by my present employer, with two years of fast food driving experience, it shouldn't be difficult to find work elsewhere. This has already been proven when dinner2go let me down, within 3 weeks I had a new job with a much better company, that is an international brand name!

As the manager once said, everytime they interview someone for a driving job, the moment the words minimum wage come up, they walk out of the interview. Young people don't want to get out of bed for that kind of money because it's not enough to live on. My position is different in that I have three pensions plus monthly gifts from my eldest brother to add to my wages and with no mortgage, rent or household bills to pay, I reckon I'm not doing too badly, am I? The caravan is paid for, so no finance to pay on that, and so is the Shogun fully paid up. Only the one Smart car is on finance and I've been easily managing the payments on that for over 12 months now.
