Bailey Pegasus locker door hinge broken
With the cold snap approaching I decided to use the onboard water tank. Unfortunately I slipped and managed break off the locker door at the hinge. I am hoping that the plastic hinge or possibly the hinge pin is replaceable. Has anyone had this happen?

Good morning Alan 237
i note you say damaged on lock side
What exactly is damaged
i had several of the locker doors not locking and was being quoted 60.00 sack to replace
after spending ten mins looking I realised that the lock was missing the sliding lock bar
it a really easy fix just hold the sliding lock bar and push it back towards the lock, you will hear a click as it goes onto the locating pins
I managed to fix all three this way so I’m guessing a common problem

Thanks Chasstreet, but the whole latch assembly is broken and the cylindrical lock is missing. I noticed it flapping about on the motorway when driving home after purchase, and stopped at first opportunity to discover the damage. It is currently taped closed with clear gaffer tape awaiting repair. Bailey spares supply a replacement door outer frame which holds the insert panel which I can swap from the old damaged frame. The alternative is to locate a long enough cylinder lock with cam to go right through and fabricate a receiving bracket internally, but I think a new frame, as expensive as it is, is the best solution.

Alan. I had to replace an exterior hatch, which sounds like yours, on my Ranger a couple of years ago., It came complete with lock and key and seal; as you have found out, no insert panel so you use the old one. I could not remove the frame on the caravan luckily it was undamaged so I just left it in situ. Careful when taking the old insert out of it's frame, it is held in place with 6 clips, which are hidden, and are very difficult to prise off without cracking the insert. You will also need some clear sealant. I managed so anyone can.

Having had a look I can see that the battery box door is quite different. However the water tank door that I have snapped off appears to be identical to the two wet locker doors at the front corners. I can now see that there is no separate hinge pin but the hinge is in two parts. I'll have to see if I can order them when I get home.

I'm glad that you have been able to help Alan237 to sort out his door. If it is the same type as fitted to my Pegasus mark 1 are you able to help me with how to replace the hinge? It is in two pieces and clips in the frame and also the door. It might be perfectly obvious how it fits once one has seen it done but not to me at the moment.

The hinge pin is made from nylon/ plastic. We had to cut through one once, to open a locker with a broken latch (Stanly knife between hinge segments). The first aid fix was to use stiff copper wire to temporarily replace the pin. Later, when home, our friendly ironmonger gave us a 6” length of brushcutter (think industrial strimmer) line, of the same thickness as the original pin. No cost, easy to obtain, and in service still when we sold the van.

Sorry rovinmad don't think I can help. The pins on the door I replaced were single plastic pieces which just slid into the hinges. If your pins are just one piece, open the door fully and with some pliers try to slide them out towards the centre, you may have to twist them a little. Don't think you can buy the whole hinge separately from the hatch. Try giving Bailey spares dept a call, they are very helpful.

A bit late, but for others searching the Bailey Olympus door hinge is

Seems the same for front locker doors as for the toilet cassette.

Hi I have the new pins for my Bailey ranger Battery box door as shown in pic and understand the door needs to be open 180 degrees, however the caps are broken off the old pins any idea how to get them out
