At the Scottish Caravan Show earlier this month I asked on both the CC and the C&CC stands what was in the offing, and staff on both stands were so adamant that there was no truth at all in the story that there was to be a merger that I had to think there might be something in it after all.

Ha, I noticed on FB that staff on the club stand now wear a bright shade of blue? I guess that's another change of kit for me then, at least it'll match my eyes!undecidedcool

You can see the bright royal blue colour at the NEC on Twitter and a few staff faces sporting the new look.  wink

As wardens can be of any gender, is the colour Blue not being a bit sexist. Unless they're planning for the lady wardens to be dressed in Pink  -  Political correctness is all the rage nowadays, which means that every warden should be allowed to choose between the two colours depending on their lifestyle.

I would have thought attributing a colour to gender could be regarded as sexist these days K.

I did have a pink shirt back in the day.😀

What do you mean by "choosing between two colours depending on their lifestyle"??? I always wear a pink shirt on my rest days and my wife likes to wear blue, but then I don't think pink was mentioned anywhere except in your post. So being poilitically correct should I recognise you as the Scottish motorhomer in pink then K?winkundecided

Just been looking at web site and noticed under membership section a new announcement that they are changing to a rolling monthly booking system and stopping frenzy day they are going to start releasing pitches at beginning of every month all year round seems like a fair system to me what do others think?

I think that it will make little positive difference. In fact for those wanting a specific popular site for Easter 2019 they will have to think further ahead.

    Another improvement?

'To let you know what’s free and when, every Tuesday we’ll send you an email showing you the late availability of up to three sites close to you, to make sure you dont miss those last-minute opportunities.'

That info is easily available on the website. Do I really want another 52 e-mails a year?

The Club consulted with members and recognised that many members would like to plan and book further ahead than they are able to today.

With the new changes members will always be able to book UK Club Sites up to one year ahead. The aim is to provide a better experience for members.

So for those members who say that they are unable to book ahead ...... tough wotsits wink

For many it will make little difference and for me an inconvenience of considering where to go on three occasions a year instead of one.I'll live with it though.

It won't be of any interest to us, and I expect a swift unsubscribe will be the way forward.

    a) We plan our trips weeks if not months in advance, fitting them in around our other commitments and interests.

    b) We never stay anywhere "close to us". If its less than 2 or 3  hours away we go by car.

The topics will be similar CY.

Can't get a booking for Easter Bank Holiday with my family!

Honey pot sites block booked. (For those wanting regular stays in York or at Chatsworth this should make it far easier if they book ahead.)

Weekends booked up well in advance (Now that will be further in advance.)

    plus ça change

They snuck this in under the radar. Or was this announced at the show yesterday?

I can't see it will have much affect on us but feel it will probably lead to even more speculative booking. I very much doubt it will make getting peak times at the honeypots any easier. So no change there, and folk will still complain on here.

The only possible effect that I can see is that if I wanted regular weekends at Rowntree I stand an excellent chance of getting plenty .... I don't by the way.

I wonder how they chose the selection for comments. Hopefully at random but somehow I doubt that.

The easiest way for members to remember is that whichever month they are currently in, the same month of the following year (and all months in between) will normally be on sale. The Club intends on putting pitches on sale toward the beginning of every month. Members should quickly become familiar with the new process.

So for those that want Christmas and new year will this mean booking to New Year's Eve in December and then extending it for New Year's Day in January? The same of course will apply to other cross month holidays at popular times. Meaning they have to be booked in two halves to insure getting what you need. I am not sure that is any easier.

Reading the blurb Steve the CC says that at certain times the booking periods will be extended to include such factors.

There are, of course, bookings which fall across two months. In these cases, members can either wait for both months to become available before placing a booking, or can make an initial booking for the dates available in the first month and then amend the booking to encompass the second month, once those pitches have been put on sale.

The Club also intends to put some multiple months on sale together. For example July and August may be put on sale at the same time (the Club will determine the best approach for members as the year progresses).

well this will be a boon for teachers who, apart from Easter (and even then it can be worked out - the week after Easter Monday is usually there), know their dates for the next few yearssmile

I think though there will maybe be a mini 'scramble' on July & August first as members with children will want to book their summer holiday? But then what about those who take a last week in July & first week in August? Book one and then hope for the other? Or go and book somewhere where they can be assured of getting their two weeks?

Post edit - just seen the above sorry - so defiantly a mini scramble on July 1st!

I can't see the changes being of much advantage to those of us for one reason or another don't book more than a month ahead, in fact it could make it more difficult.

    And how about:-

    You said

"As a motorhomer it would be nice to be able to book a hardstanding"

    Zilch!!!!

If that is the extent of the changes to the booking system I find it very disappointing!
