Sites with short walks and public transport nearby
This year our usual motorhome travels will be curtailed a little as my husband is just on the list for a new knee - he can still drive but can't walk very far. We'd still like to travel around the Uk whilst we wait for the call, do members have ideas of any club or CL sites which have relatively short (flattish) walks or public transport to nearby sights please? We don't usually move our van during our stays, but prefer to move on every 4 or 5 days. I'm sure there are lots of great places out there, and hopefully our planned return visit to Denmark will be ok in 2019!

I have a similar problem and as such tend to look for the same sort of sites. If you look at this link and check out those sites with the little motorhome logo you will find details of sites within walking distance of towns and villages or near to public transport.

Anywhere in England or Wales would be fine - we are retired so have plenty of time to travel. We visited Scotland in 2016 for a long trip around the North Coast 500 and have decided Scotland's too far this time, from our south coast location, in the circumstances (perhaps we'll get a cancellation surgery offer?!) We've done lots of touring around the UK over the years, but we're racking our brains for sites handy for someone with limited mobility. Thanks for the link above David.

Bristol is great, apart from the difficulty getting in, as there is a bus stop right outside.
Edinburgh less so as the bus stop is a fair walk, although there is a minibus from the site into Edinburgh.
Berwick could prove difficult, as the OP mentions flattish. Although the bus stop is close to the gate, the site itself has some fairly steep gradients.

Warwick is good, although it's slightly up hill to the town but not far. There's also a small shop nearby for papers etc and a level walk to Sainsbury's.
Usually I'd say Hillhead in Devon which has an excellent bus service into Torbay/Brixham or down to Kingswear for the passenger ferry to Dartmouth. But there is a hill down to the ferry, don't know whether the hill might put you off, not too steep. You can also catch the steam train from Kingswear which stops near NT Greenway (Agatha Christie's old home.) There is transport provided to get you to the house. Hillhead has a shop & bar food etc so fairly easy to plan a stay there.
If you can manage without EHU Steamer Quay in Totnes is very pleasant, river trips just over the road and a short stroll to town, but the main Totnes high street is on a hill. Buses to Dartmouth and Torbay too.
Moreton in Marsh and Broadway are sites within walking distance of local shops etc.

Here in the far south west the two nicest towns to stroll around are Truro in Cornwall and Tavistock in Devon. Carnon Downs Caravan Park has a bus stop at the gate to go intoTruro, and Harford Bridge Campsite is similarly placed for buses into Tavistock. And if you want a breath of salt water then Dennis Cove campsite at Padstow is a level ten minute, stroll along the estuary into the town. And for all three a taxi back to the campsite is an allowable luxury.

Good idea, yes we are members of t'other club! We usually stay at Coniston or Derwentwater but they will be far from facilities on foot.

Black Horse CMHC has bus stop by site entrance with regular service to Canterbury and Folkestone from where you can journey on to Dover or Hastings!
Diamond House, Fiskerton, Lincs CL has bus stop by entrance and good service into Lincoln.
