Best way of selling a motorhome?
Hi,
I have a 2015 Hymer which I would like to change, and currently I am shopping around to look for a new motorhome, probably not a Hymer, but not sure yet.
I am not sure whether it is generally best to trade in and accept the best deal I can get from the supplier, or to answer one or more of the many "we buy your motorhome" ads. Am I likely to get more or less the same either way?
I don't feel I can sell it privately because I keep it in a storage pitch a few miles away and going there to meet prospect viewers/buyers might be difficult.
Any advice welcome,
Nick

I suppose the most hassle free way is to trade it in but you have to be happy that you are getting a good deal. Hymer's are often quite sought after so that should go in your favour. Another method is to ask a Hymer dealer whether they would sell on a commission basis, some seem to have got a better deal out of doing it that way rather than part exchange.

Try Motorhomdepot, they advertise extensively on eBay, selling plenty of premium branded vans for a fee...
van (generally) stays at home for viewing, not at storage, but perhaps have a word with them and get a bit more info.
with just the tiniest bit of effort (and the right price) you should have buyers all over you for a 2/3 yr old Hymer.
good luck.

We bought a new caravan a while back and the dealer offered us a trade-in price but said that we would be welcome to sell it privately whilst waiting for delivery of the new caravan. That worked well because after placing the order we then went off and advertised the old one, eventually selling it for quite a bit more than the trade-in value. The fall back was that if it didn’t sell the dealer would still stand by his offer.
