Gas bottle fixings for 4.5 kg butane
Hi All, we are soon to have our first trip out to Harbury farm as we are having a motor mover and ATC fitted at AL-KO near Lemington Spa.
We purchased our 2016 Bailey Pegasus Verona second hand and it came with two 4.5 kg butane gas bottles which are full.
In time we will probably go to Propane, probably using the 3.9 kg bottles (would like to go for the plastic bottles but it appears these are being withdrawn).
As modern caravans appear to have next to no payload capacity we will probably stick with small gas bottles. Also as we will mostly use electric hook up our gas usage should be minimal.
The problem is that the gas locker fixings are for the larger bottles, so these smaller ones are not fixed securely and wobble about.
We could try to make some modifications but assume we are am not the first to come across this issue and looking for some advise or hopefully information on a conversion fixing kit.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks Derek and Sandra

simple answer...........lower the strap fixings...........or.............put the bottles on some plywood.|

Or get one larger bottle and save some space (and weight!)

I had the same problem as you - the restraining strap was too high to properly support a 4.5 kg or 3.9 kg bottle.
I bought a plastic plant pot from Wilco's (price £1) and cut it about so that the rim fits in the grooves on the floor of the gas locker and the bottle sits in the upturned pot which has had the base cut off. Actually I used two plant pots, one inside the other to give a bit more stability.
Another option is to modify a metal dog's bowl of an appropriate size.
