Great News – New Club Site

They might not, I suspect it will depend on whether the pitches are large enough. There are certainly hedges left in place at Hillhead. Looking at Google Earth its difficult to judge whether pitches are large enough for the usual car/caravan/awning configuration. I suppose it might also depend on whether there is room to extend the current site? Be interesting for someone to post who has stayed there.

Obviously Google Earth images are way out of date!!!

Interesting price structure.
No peak season in summer except August Bank holiday weekend. Low season right up to dates in June apart from Bank Holidays and Special Offers, Low season mid week discounts include a Sunday night
Bet that changes for 2019

Since bookings are phone call based just now it would be good to know if the present booking structure is still in place or whether the club have now changed to their own? Does running it in the same way as the previous owners at present mean the same varying costs apply?

Hi everyone,
The Cayton Village Club Site Page is now live on the Club website. I have forwarded your questions onto the sites team and will get back to you shortly.

A couple of comments:-
I posed the "dog" question earlier. I don't have a dog and consider the charge to be a discount I would get.
Instead of aerial photographs take a look at the Ordnance Survey map. It is to scale, and has grid lines one kilometer apart. All you need to do is count pitches and divide.
Who is booking already for before/after the National Rally?

Great news about a new site, let's hope it's the first of many, around the country.

Good to see a new site.
From available images, bare in mind google maps / street view are 9 years old and don't show the improvements over that period that the site website shows, a welcome difference to the grey car park of the nearest CAMC sites.
All for differences in sites to meet the locale.
A quick price check for family summer holidays, not August BH weekend, which is what is of interest to the new adventurers the CAMC claims to want to attract, ie families.
Cayton - Serviced pitch with 16A - £33.00 per night
West Ayton CAMC - Non serviced pitch as not available - £32.30 per night
Bridlington CAMC - Serviced pitch 16A - £41.40 per night
What will 2019 bring in fees?
As with other CAMC sites there are 2 levels of current, 10A & 16A. Unlike CAMC there are different fees by £3 per night between the 2, whereas CAMC charge the same fee for 10 as 16.
Be interesting to see the occupancy figures from the due diligence undertaken, over the last few years and going forward once embedded in the frenzy day booking that may prevent fortnight family holidays in the summer school holiday period.
Some reet proper yorkshire honesty in respect of the WiFi.
Seems a pragmatic way of handling bookings outwith the minimum periods. Rare (previously known as common) sense applied.
There appear several other sites in the area for comparison.

Personally I hope that it retains a lot of the features it has now. I believe it is a very popular area, I certainly had work colleagues who loved it for both touring and camping and it was always thought of as a great place for families. Lots of other sites close by, the whole area is a big draw for visitors.

It's not a new site. It's been there for years. So far no one has said Yes, we have been there, but suddenly a lot of people are interested in it. It's not Commercial any longer, it's a Club site. Do some Club members go nowhere but Club sites ? (and CLs of course )

Yes.
But there is more than one Club.

With regard to your last sentance Eurotraveller, we use a mixture of Club and non-club sites. We tend to look at Club sites first, as we know what we are getting, but will generally only book Serviced pitches in season (because of the 'hardstandings problem' ☺), or sites which are all HS. We then use Club Sites out of season, when grass pitches are not in use. Other than that, we tend to choose sites based upon reviews or we look at the 'Best of British or Alan Rogers selection.
I certainly don't know of Clayton Village Caravan Park from previous searches, but may be a site worth considering for the future, now I know of it.

I have not used other sites (except Camping Club sites) since buying my motorhome 4 years ago as I am a lone motorhomer with my 2 dogs, so it is usually cheaper for me to use a CC&MH site. I also like the fact that you have a very good idea before you go about how near it is to bus stops, pubs, towns and villages, etc as it is in the Club book. I also get a good idea of a site from reading the reviews. The new site looks lovely and if I ever get round to giving in my notice at work, I may give it a try later on in the year

Was there last year on a serviced pitch (Laurels)....and yes some of the standard pitches can be cramped. Most of the pitches are..(were) seasonal.Toilet block was excellent. I am currently booked into Scarborough West Ayton site in March but may now change...if I can get a serviced pitch in the Laurels..

Because that is the 'norm' on C&MC sites I've been on, couldn't comment on the above as never been there, they have always been C&MC sites ever since we became members, so no idea they had ever been anything else. Don't have your vast years of knowledge

Hi everyone,
In answer to some of the questions raised on this discussion, please see below:
Prices are being charged as they are currently advertised for the 2018 season. Bookings can be made by either calling the site direct, or emailing them. Details on the Site page.
The OAP discount is valid for the 2018 season. This isn’t a C&CC offer, it’s an offer set by the site itself. The OAP offer applies during the low season period only.
WiFi is free in The Laurels part of the site as part of the service provided to the pitches. There is no Wifi available in any other area of this site in 2018.
We are not going to charge for dogs this season.
For the 2018 season, the ampage per pitch will remain. It is our intention to upgrade the Electric Hook Up Points as part of our development plans.
We have undertaken a traffic management risk assessment which has resulted in the requirement to reduce some hedging, but not all, in order to comply. Pitch sizes vary significantly, however work will be carried out in the future to standardise them.
With regards to new sites in other areas, we are always on the lookout for new opportunities to either purchase land or acquire sites for the benefit of the membership. We will always inform our members when we acquire new sites and greatly appreciate your feedback.
I hope this helps answer some of your questions and thanks everyone for contributing to this discussion.

There are an awful lot of speculative grumbles of gloom and doom in this thread.
Me, I’m happy the club has acquired another site and I’ll wait and see what happens.
