We wanted you to be the first to know that we have successfully purchased Cayton Village Caravan Park (Limited), which will join the network from 1 March 2018 as Cayton Village Caravan and Motorhome Club Site.

This family-run touring park has been successfully operated and managed since 1989 and for the 2018 season we’ll be running the site in the same manner as the previous owners, enabling us to review and establish the most cost effective way to develop the site in future years.

Located just three miles from Scarborough, close to the magnificent Cayton Bay – the site will complement other sites in North Yorkshire, an area where we know many of you want to spend your leisure time. Boasting a beautiful dog-friendly beach, the area is also popular with surfers, bird watchers, fun seekers and those who just want to relax and unwind. Visitors to Cayton Village Club site will be able to take advantage of a children’s playground, shop, laundry facilities, nature trail, shower rooms and much more. The local pub, chip shop and village store are just a five minute walk away too.

All members are welcome to make a booking with us this year, but please be aware it may not provide a fully representative Club site experience at this stage. You can of course expect a warm welcome from our own site staff who will be on hand to greet you upon arrival and to ensure you have a fantastic stay with us at Cayton Village Club Site.

We hope you will join us in celebrating this great news and look forward in welcoming you on site from 1 March 2018.

Once the new site page is live on our website I will post the link on this discussion, in the meantime you can find out more about the site by visiting www.caytontouring.co.uk and book your pitch by calling 01723 583171 or emailing info@caytontouring.co.uk

Looks an attractive site. The hedging between pitches is very functional.  The large children's play area will be very welcome to those with young families.

    Hi Ro,

    That's really good news.

Does this mean prices will remain the same as advertised on the current website, and that we will be able to choose book a hardstanding or grass pitch?

Don't know the site, but it's good news, very popular area, and Scarborough is very nice. I hope it eventually becomes a year round site, will be excellent for Winter breaks. I hope the Club doesn't lose Low Moor site though, that is a quiet little gem.

Why would you be able to book a pitch type? The Caravan Club does not give you that option.

Good to see a new site and looks like a lot of hardstandings on aerial views of the site and a large site. Facilities look good and modern.

Could do with more sites in southern area as Dorset has only 3 club sites 1 AS and Wincanton has gone perhaps one in that area not far from A303 to catch folk going to Devon or Cornwall.

Agree with DSB re booking hardstanding or grass as on website and notice some pitches only have 10 amp instead of usual 16 amp.

    Hi

Ro does state that this year it will be run "as is", so you can expect some differences to the usual club site. These will be addressed in time to make this an outstanding club run site.

    Thanks for the news Ro,

    JK

The reason I asked the question was that Rowena stated:

"and for the 2018 season we’ll be running the site in the same manner as the previous owners, enabling us to review and establish the most cost effective way to develop the site in future years."

I was hoping that Rowena could clarify the exact nature of "running the site in the same manner as the previous owners", who allowed folk to book hardstandings or grass pitches.  It is possible that clients have already booked a pitch type for the coming season.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Good news.

I assume for anyone wanting hardstanding it may pay to book direct until the transition period ends? and as the Club doesn't differentiate regarding pricing for pitch type, who do you contact? Club or Cayton undecided

I wonder what the position will be on the £1 a night extra per dog if it is to run "as is" . . . .?

Every pitch being provided a car parking space "near" is also an interesting concept to incorporate in the CC ethos.

I just hope that West Ayton site is not now under thread of closure.

Good to hear of a new site and it's an area we planned to return to. We stayed at West Ayton before but I'd not rush back there and have been looking for alternatives.

Aerial shots make it look a bit cramped though. Has anyone been?

Ariel shot frightens the death out of me. Looks very cramped....not for us, we'll stick with CLs, thanks. Good to see a new site though as it could result in more room on CLs in the area.

Excellent news and on a bus route. I imagine the Club will apply its own signature on the site in time so the spacing of units  should not be a problem. There seems to be a new bypass being constructed nearby which should make access easier. Good to see the Club on the lookout for sites.

Agree with you Oneputt it's great to see a new site but this part of the country apart from North Norfolk is lacking in club sites especially since Mildenhall closed. A new site would be very welcome in East Anglia but good news on another site on the coast in Yorkshire 😁

I wonder how expensive it is to dig up hard standings just to put them back further apart . . . ?

Of course, these sort of things will have all been worked out in advance.

I happen to live within 5 miles of this site. The Osgodby and Reighton by-passes have been open for about 10 years now. If you head north towards Scarborough via this by-pass, there is a park and ride service into town. Heading south on the same by-pass you are very soon on the road to Filey.

So Scarborough now has twice as many sites as Suffolk and Essex put together!

Whilst it is good to see new sites coming on board I do think other unrepresented areas should have priority.

I did feel a twinge that Yorkshire gets another one but I'm pleased to see a new site so close to the coast and not out in the sticks.

Now there's a strange question for you to be asking, David! I mean, you don't have a dog, you almost certainly won't be using the site - so how come that's the first thing that entered your head to ask? (Just interested!)  undecided

Guess that means they will rip out all those lovely hedges, I hope not they look rather nice.
