hi just checking things work before our first outing this year, plugged the whale pump into exterior socket and submerged the pump into aqua roll switched on and nothing happened. The pump light at the pump switch did not light up as it should when taking water.

Unpluged from caravan and notice some green around the connecting metal connectors.

Disassembled the plug two screws to examine inside it did not look too bad no corrosion etc just the green around the the connector edges, Sprayed with wd40 cleans as best I could re assembled, replugged in and reluctantly it worked.

I have a new spare tried that no problem worked fine, wondered if anyone out there has had similar issue.

Should it be stored over winter inside house, sprayed with wd40 or greased up before leaving caravan over winter???

The van is a Elddis 550 2016.

regards

It quite often happens on those connections ,just clean them up with a bit of wire wool or fine emery cloth both the pump and the external inlet connectors an a smear of vaseline should do the trick

And you may need the gently bend the 'contacts' on the plug  with some long nossed pliers to give a firmer contact between the pump end and the caravan end.  You seem to have solved the problem already.  It is very wise to carry a spare.  I just store mine in the caravan over winter.

I bring mine home from winter storage, I replace the clear pump piping inside of the outer blue covering with new and put it on the shelf in the spare room.

We have a 2014 550 and have experienced similar thing which we resolved by adjusting the pressure flow. If you have the Whales leaflet that explains how to adjust.

If you havent got it take a look at Whales site its on there to be printed off.
