Drop down beds... how low?

I have heard that some motorhome drop down beds come right down to real bed height, i.e. you don't need a ladder to get in. A Pilote salesman told me some of theirs do, but he couldn't show me one at the time.

Can anyone advise me if I am searching for something that does not exist?  What I would really like is a permanent end lounge with a drop down bed over the cab area/at the front which lowers far enough down.

Thanks

Nick

Nick, rear lounge vans are (generally) the preserve of UK makers...

drop down beds (over cab or over lounge) are (generally) the preserve of continental makers....

however, there are a few makers (uk and continental) that provide both.

BTW, several continental makers now have huge drop downs over a rear lounge, also with a second drop down in the cab....

regarding height of lowered beds....short answer, they vary...

overcab drop downs (in A class vans) can come down so that it only requires a leg up on a side seat to hop in...

similarly, over lounge beds vary due to whether they have lockers on the underside...those that do are restricted a bit and those that dont tend to come down further...

any clues on new/used, budget, vehicle length and weight etc?

Swift do a drop down bed in the rear lounge of the Rio. Makes two large beds one above the other.
