Archie's Camping - POIs for SatNavs
Does anyone use Archies Camping (http://www.archiescampings.eu/ - downloadable files of POIs and other campsite information for SatNavs) for finding UK sites? If so, Archie would be very happy to hear from you about any updates, correction of coordinates, changes to site telephone numbers, websites, site closures or openings........! He's recently commented that whilst UK users now outnumber those in Holland, he gets very little feedback from UK users about sites in the UK. There is a 'Contact' facility on the front page of the website where you can let Archie know of anything which might not be correct.
The database is updated every couple of months and is a labour of love by Archie - and Archie is not a commercial organisation working for profit, but a retired Dutch teacher!

I do keep Archie informed of any site closures I come across although I must admit that I don't drill down into the detail such as phone numbers.

It would be helpful, particularly if anyone notices new sites, if they could enclose as many details as possible, as otherwise Archie (or a volunteer) has to look up those details, and for campsites without websites that can be a very difficult task.

I should have added to my previous post that with new sites I usually send a link to the site website which would have all the details.

Archie does a great job and his SatNav files have been invaluable to us travelling in Europe but of course most changes in the UK will relate to CLs and the other Club’s equivalent 5 van sites. I trust that he doesn’t include these sites on his database as they are for members only. Apart from the difficulty of keeping them up to date due to the frequent changes it would be misleading for non Club members to find them on the SatNav when they can’t actually use them.
