Woke this morning to glorious sunshine, so decided to go to Stowe Gardens (NT) near Buckingham. We had a lovely walk round the lakes, and gardens.
I used to live only a few miles away as a child, I would spend every weekend and holidays at the local stables within the grounds. Pre the NT taking over the gardens they were open to all, we could ride all round the park back then.
After our walk it was tea and cake in the barn, very enjoyable. Weather cold but sunny only a short snow shower. Called in at local farm shop on the way home.
Goldie, glad all the celebrations went well, loved the cake.☺
Oneputt, sorry to hear your news, but glad you have sorted your trips out.
Francis, good to read you are enjoying your holiday.☺

Been to Bowness and the Stag IIRC in our Triumph Stag with my classic car club

We could do with more space to get past the foot of the bed to the washroom plus a bigger washroom would be better. Perhaps an 8 ft. wide model could be the answer to that!

Lovely looking cake, Goldie. Who made it? Many happy returns to Henry! It doesn't seem that long ago when you were celebrating his last birthday!

We've finally finished the redecorating. We've done the lounge, dining room and three bedrooms since the middle of October in addition to relaying the dining room and kitchen floors. There's just the hall and stairs to do now but at the age of almost 74 I'll get someone in to do that.
Now we can start to plan some time away in the van😀

The day started off cold but sunny with a clear blue sky but at lunchtime the hail and sleet showers arrived. It was an afternoon of sleet showers and sunny intervals. The snowdrops are out in our garden though and the daffodils are about to bloom in the Cathedral grounds. 😊
Your day sounds wonderful Helen. I love Stowe. Wonderful place.
Sounds like you have a plan OP. Lovely to have something to look forward to. You deserve it after being housebound with illness in the New Year.

Where are you staying, Francis. We're on a CL just by Rheged till tomorrow, and were in Penrith this morning. Had a walk up to the Beacon after doing a bit of shopping at Aldi.

Now I wonder where that is, OP!!
Have a good time and I hope you see some exciting wildlife.
Sorry to hear the news of your family.

Gosh it takes an age to read these posts sometimes, even skim reading some 😉. Won't have time to post much as a result!
Quick post hoping to include everything but apologises for any glaring omissions.
Oneputt sad news on the family, thoughts and prayers for you all. Glad you've booked trips. Not thought about UK trips as yet, I expect Burnham Wick will be full 😢 whilst you're there would have loved a walk with your expertise.
It's our local bolthole CL. Don't even know the date of easter this year 😲. Know next year as we have wedding week before, can't wait to hear details - but that means we'll be home.
Goldie belated birthday greetings to your OH great photos and cake. Lovely to have all your family in the same room - I'd settle for same country 😂😂.
Milliehull glad grandson recovered enjoy your half term week - you can recover once they've gone 😉 (we have 26 hour flight for that). How is your daylight lamp?
Tammygirl glad your granddaughter has done her flight first is always the worst, she'll be a confident lone traveller before long.
Glad others are pottering through their days with routine and nice things.
Saturday went to a great talk on herbs as medicine, should have been outside but transferred into the Victoria Glass house such was the continued rain here 😲😲. Sunday several events to be held for the Hamilton Garden Arts Festival cancelled due to weather, along with huge outdoor event in Auckland, too dangerous. Also flooding there and sewage outflow onto beaches as drains couldn' cope 13mm in an hour. But it is warm low 20s and occasionally humid. Cyclone cat 3 hit Samoa at weekend, heading to Tonga, possibly increasing to cat 4 then maybe heading our way. WET WET WET until the weekend. That said sitting on decking in some sun but clouds forming. We have booked other events for the festival so hoping there will be indoor alternative if weather unkind.
Several chores before collecting girls so must get going. Seem to have managed more than I thought but no photos. May have to do a thread, time permitting, on our return.

Hope that the weather doesn't result in the cancellation of any more of the events you intend going to, B2. We may have snow and rain but fortunately we don't get cyclones!! Fingers crossed that you have good weather for the rest of your stay.
For your diary, Good Friday is on 30th March this year.

Lovely to hear from you Bakers2. Glad that you are having a good time despite the weather. I hope the weather improves for the rest of the festival so that you can enjoy it. The weather here is very cold with a mixture of sunny intervals and wintry showers. Hopefully spring is on it's way soon. I seem to remember you saying that the weather is always bad here when you are in NZ. When are you coming back!!

Milliehull we're back 16 March, coming up quick now, sorry you'll have to endure weather for longer! But 5 years ago about now ?10th? we were one of the last planes from Heathrow due to heavy snow - I don't wish you that! That was when we came for wedding so sure of the year 😉.
Thank you Nelliethehooker. Unusual to get cyclone here but tend to get the end of them as we do USA hurricanes at home, being on the east at home as you know they've usually calmed down. If cyclone coming from the tropics, they hit NZ from the north or from OZ the west, caught last one, Fehi, as we drive back from Taranaki, south island caught the worse. Hoping if it comes our way it will be all over bar the shouting.
Still sunny and cloudy here and warm 22c but humidity coming and going. Oops few drops as I type, hopefully heat spots 😉

Nice to hear all your news Bakers2, sorry about the weather spoiling some of the planned events. You seem to be enjoying your time there.☺

My daylight lamp seems to be making me feel better thanks. We shall look forward to the16th March 😁

That wouldn't be an option for us, Tammygirl, because living outside UK would cause complications for my wife's visa and I would lose income from the work that I'm getting here.
I agree that the Costa Del Sol has some nice sunny warm weather in the winter without getting too hot, ideal climate, I think, but we still prefer it here. We do get some sunny days here even in the winter so outings are still possible, you just have to wrap up warmer!

Malcolm out of of sheer curiosity I feel compelled to ask the following questions. Bearing in mind the financial circumstances you find yourself in and have posted on this thread.
What will you do if your wife's visa isn't granted? One assumes you could appeal but that would incur costs. How long would she have to leave the country? Could you secure a visa to live in China? Can you afford to do so? What would happen if you list your job and thus the resultant liss of income?
Sorry folks probably should start another thread on behalf of Malcolm but what could I title it?

You must be pinching some of my quota then. Mine has been a bit mediocre.

Another glorious sunrise today OP. The sun is now rising in the Sou’east not the Sou’sou’east👍🏻😊

If the visa is refused, she is allowed 14 days after the date of the visa refusal to appeal. Whilst the appeal process is going on, which could take over a year, she is allowed to continue to remain here.
Yes, it would incur further costs which I will try to fund myself. If it becomes impossible, I will ask my eldest brother to help with costs as he is not in favour of us settling in China. My employer might also be willing to help through a letter to the Home Office to say that they have a need for me to remain in this job. The manager has already said to me that if anything else is required, he will do his best to help me.

It's a bright sunny morning - just back from a long walk with the dogs. The van is on the drive ready for its service on Wednesday and with the weather being like this it'd be rude not to take advantage of it being out of storage. So I'll be looking to book somewhere soon - may have to wait till next week though as it's half term this week!

Its a lovely bright cold and frosty morning here as well. Hope you manage to get away soon moulesy.
