Impromptu Holiday
As you all know about the "boiler issue" our weekend has a silver lining. It's turned into a "warm" and cosy weekend in the caravan watching the Olympics and Rugby. We went out for a lovely pub lunch and have the CL to ourselves. We are so grateful to have the caravan. Has anybody else ever ended up having an impromptu holiday?

We had an oil delivery and the plastic tank cracked. Put nearly 1500 Litres of oil under our house. We had to move out while the house was partially demolished to remove it. 12 hours notice. Insurance company wanted to arrange hotel followed by temporary accommodation. After a little negotiation they agreed to fund an extended tour in our caravan.
Six months later we were still ‘On tour’. Had a fantastic time without making a Drama out of a Crisis. It took 13 months to finally sort but we went back for periods after about 7 months.
We didn’t know until that time that kerosine was carcinogenic. Have greater respect for it now.
By the way this happened four weeks after I retired at the end of January and a week later it was -11 degrees!

Ken of Kent, wow. You have my full respect for your situation. 😳 It's at times like this that a caravan is a useful thing to own. We have towed the caravan home today and parked it on our driveway. It fills the drive which is why we normally store it away from home. Our neighbours have kindly offered their driveways for our cars. We'll make the best out of the situation.😊

Goodness KofK, what an event! I like having our van at home, it acts as a spare for all sorts of things and somewhere to escape to for a change of scenery, we have some nice views round our home pitch.
Hope things are going well for you ADD46.

Most of our holidays are impromptu - or at least booked at very short notice.
