Just think of all the extra campers that will be able to visit CMC sites  besides the tourers after all  the club can't rely on all it's eggs in the same basket all the time .                                                   All that extra income  that will be generated  by the club i just hope it doesn't reduce availability too much on the very popular well priced UK sites .

You never know ......it may catch on all over the place 👍

    AD is correct.

If the sole criteria for the club is to maximise revenue/profit then building lodges on its sites (as many sites have done, including some CC affiliated sites), will produce (presumably) better returns. Even better....apply for planning permission on the land and sell it all for housing.  Bingo !.....massive profits....!

But, rather obviously, that is not why I joined the club, nor I suspect most others...

I want the club to offer the maximum number of touring pitches for my "touring" outfit......

Lets face it. When the demise of the  towed caravan occurs due to the fast moving change to  Electric Vehicles , it will be unheard of to use a fossil fuel powered tow vehicle.---- X- caravanners will still want to go to campsites and they will only have 2 alternatives ..

    1- Buy a small EV campervan/motorhome.

2 - Rent a Camping Pod or Yurt or another permanently erected accommodation.

    cool

The occupants of the yurts, wigwans, pods, huts, glamping things, hobbit holes, etc will soon be complaining about the comings and goings of caravans spoiling the place.

It wasn't me.  I thought about it, but then couldn't decide if it should have been Camping Pods or Glamping Pods.

Had I have tried typing the word Glamping, I would have realised (as I just have) that Glamping comes up as Clamping on my phone as predictive text.

I don't have an issue with these new pods and feel the club needs to embrace new ideas to remain competitive going forward.

It was explained to me that the club have concerns that the number of people wanting to take up caravanning and motorhoming is going to reduce steadily due to changes to the driving licences. The young no longer have the luxury of buying a caravan, hooking it on the car and heading off like most of us did (not me I have always had motorhomes) Rightly or wrongly from a stand point of safety. However, the club needs to look at it from a revenue view point and these pods seems to be the idea to address some of the problem.

Where I do have an issue is when the pods are located in place of pitches. There is a shortage of pitches already and most sites have someplace they could fit the new idea without a loss of valuable pitches.
