    A question for Nellie -

Silverhay Farm looks like a great CL and one ( for us)  it might be worth rejoining for. However dogs are charged at £2 each -  would this remove it from your list?

I suppose as a new CL their occupancy results may well lead to a review of their pricing. However on the other side of things people can't complain that we have a shrinking network and them complain that prices are too high. The maximum that CL could earn would be £385 a week. Given the lack of facilities the actual take is in reality going to be much less over a much shorter season. If I were the owner I would start to seriously question whether it was worthwhile?

The CL at Hatton Mains Farm looks very interesting. It's in a lovely area with easy access to and from the A90.  Also convenient for the scenic Fettercairn to Banchory route B974 over the Cairn O'Mount.

Might not suit those who want an "All Singing all Dancing" CL with all the "bells and whistles". But for genuine touring members who enjoy the great outdoors, it will be absolutely ideal.

We know the Queens Arms quite well, and are very familiar with its location in Breage. Good location for seeing and getting about Lands End and especially Lizard area of Cornwall. Few miles away from Helston, very close to Porthleven. Some very nice walks close by, lots of NT coastline.

Dogs are not charged at £2 each, at least as I understand the prices on their web page. It says stays for pets £2 per night. Doesn't stipulate how many pets! Or what kind of pets! If it was me, I would be phoning up and asking for more details. And if they picked the grass up after mowing! laughing

There's better value CL within 5 miles!

    Hi All,

At present this is something the Club does not wish to do.

I will as mentioned previously bring it up at the next review. I appreciate all of your feedback and will use this, thank you for sharing them.

For now at least, we will have to remain using the Magazine updates. The Magazine is available digitally if you are out touring.

    Thanks

    Maddie

Sorry, Maddie, but that just sounds like a patronising reason, rather like a Parent to an errant child.

Yes it would, especially as there are other CL with similar facilities which are showing pitch prices of the same or less and do not charge for a dog. Cant's see how having a dog warrants an additional charge of £2 each. Perhaps it's a subtle way for the site owner to deter or at least restrict the number of dogs on site.

We've stopped at Pitrennie Mills, close to Laurencekirk too, which has both H/S, as well as grass pitches, and EHU and is showing a charge similar to Hatton Mains, which does not have EHU! We would certainly use Pitrennie Mills again, too.

Probably just trying to be fair to all prospective users. On our last trip out ( on a CS)  our neighbours had 5 dogs in their caravan!

Rather them than us! But did it affect your stay in any way, Grant?

Maddie it's nearly 6 months since you said that you'd highlight this request at the next CL review. Do you mean to say that there has not been a CL review within that time period. Says a lot about the CC's attitude to CLs, and to CT members who use them, in general.

They could of course just put a limit on the number of dogs(pets) per van instead.

No,  as they were very well behaved and the weather was not conducive to sitting outside in the sunshine. However you surely can't believe that in most occasions it would not have affected some people.

I'm just glad that the caravan on the other side didn't have another five.

You can have too much of a good thing!  laughing

So in regard to CL newly listed would you be prefer for the CL to set a limit but make them FOC?

FOC, as I can't see a reason for charging extra for pets, unless they are supplying extras specifically for them, such as pet showers. Looking at Silverhays info page they don't charge extra for awnings so it can't be to increase income.

If the Club are reluctant to list the closed CL's I suppose there would be no objection to one of the CL watchers posting a list?

    Hi Wherenext

I would like to appologise that my earlier post has insulted you. My intention was never to be patronising or insulting.

We have reviews quarterly and when I have brought up this request in the last review it was agreed that at present the CL Closures were to remain as being published in the Magazines as it is available electronically as well as being sent in the post.

We are due to have another review meeting in the next couple of months where I will bring up this topic once more, as mentioned in my previous post I will bring all feedback to the meeting to support your request and will update you all on this.

    Thanks

    Maddie

Maddie,is it ever considered at any of the meetings to contact other organisations who have exemption certificates, to as has been mentioned ,lobby the govenment(natural england) to increase the amount of outfits that a cl can have on their land if space permits to help with the ever increasing cost to run them, and encourage investment which may help to stave the continuing decline of the cl network

    Hi JVB66

I have posted on the Network Shrinkage discussion the Clubs stance on Lobbying for the increase of Units on CL sites.

    Thanks

I thought I did. However, I would not have any problem with the CL owner setting a limit, or even charging extra for those over nominal number....I only have one dog, for your info.

There's plenty of time for Maddie to post the list. The latest so far has been on the 9th Jan, so we may well get the list on Monday, all being well.

I meant that there was no posting in March detailing February's opening CLs unless of course there wasn't any!

I just think that it could be a bit early for Maddie to post the list.....perhaps tomorrow, perhaps by the end of the week, or maybe not as the case will be.wink

    Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in Posting the new sites, this month is running away from me! Thank you for the reminder and I hope this rainy weather hasn't stopped too many of your trips out.

Below are the CL sites which opened in March - I have a meeting in a couple of weeks regarding if/when closures can be posted online as well so I will keep you posted.

As always - new sites are posted as County - Listing Town - CL site

    Thanks

    Maddie

Thanks, Maddie. I said that you'd come through!! And don't worry, we'll remind you when the next listing is due.wink

I do see that the The Old Vicarage do not show a price per night, (is that because it's so high it would frighten off many potential visitors?wink) and although it has a Web Site there's no mention of the CL on it.
