Looking to stay for one night in a  Pub Carpark or Similar. Some may say this is not safe but there are some nice pub carparks that accept Motorhomes overnight if you eat or drink in the pub. We are looking for around 21 miles from manchester does anyone know of any such places .

    Hi

I don't mean to be negative at all, but when I was a lad I used to get down the pub on payday, have a good night then sleep it off on the backseat of me old Cortina. Now I have a £60k+ motorhome, hmmmmm doesn't quite have the same attraction 40 years later?winkwink

Joking aside, and sorry I don't know your area at all but there are quite a few pubs in Cornwall that you can do as you require. If you do a CL search there are a number of pub CL's on the network.

Blimey, remember a pint of red barrel and a bag of porky scratchings?!undecidedtongue-out

Searchforsites.co.uk has a map which will zoom in for you. The symbol they use on the map for Motorhome stopovers at pubs is a beer tankard

again don't wish to be negative as well but I believe that from postings on here that even stationary and engine off in a pub car park you could still be done for drink driving, being drunk in charge I think is the phrase and that could mean just having the keys with you so best to leave the ignition keys in the pub?

Friends who have a campervan have some sort of App where they can find places to stay free - such as pub car parks - provided they buy some sort of service (or a meal or drink in the pub)!   They've used it in England, staying in a pub car park in Deal before setting off across the channel.  I'll find out what it costs.

There is a section on pub sites on UKCampsite.co.uk. You should find something on the following.  Scroll to the bottom of the page for the sites.  Several sites in Derbyshire , and if you scroll further down there is a section on North East sites See here:  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/view.asp?id=117

    Hope this helps.

We've stayed at the Cholmendley Arms in Malpas the food was lovely and the Pub had over 150 gins to taste. They are also dog friendly. It is very rural so I think its safe. All you get is a car park with no water or EHU. You need to ring 1st to let them know you're coming.

heres a link to a good stopover list weve used a few, might as well have a free night with your meal and no walking/driving/cycling back to a camp site.

A bit late with this, not been on here for a few weeks but we have stayed at the Birley Arms, Warton, Nr Lytham St Anns a couple of times. They are a CL with dedicated pitches behind the pub who serve good meals and a good pint too. Think it was £14 a night when we used them a couple of years back.

Arriva, which direction from Manchester will you be?

did you look at the link to pub stopovers? there are hundreds on there, 1500, in fact....looked at the map now and must be 20 odd within 10ml of city centre....

I've used 3 or 4 for various trips, a quick phone call. Sorted.

one even had ehu, though not needed.

i was even joined by an Italian family who were touring the UK and saw the pub stops as the nearest thing to their Sostas...
