Touring the Outer Hebrides
hi. My wife and I intend to spend 10 days exploring the Outer Hebrides this coming June. We are touring with a Burstner 680 Ixeo and hope to use CalMac's Hopscotch ferry service. We would welcome recommendations on campsites where we could stay whilst there, both on Lewis and Harris and north and south Uist. We are traveling north to south starting at Stornaway and returning to the mainland from Barra (Castleway?)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks DB

Hi, Yetiowner.
We're planning to do exactly the same thing. I can’t personally recommend any sites as we've not been before but I found a good selection on UK Campsites.
I know others have been and there was a similar thread not long ago.

This guy, Andrew Ditton does a lot of Outer Hebrides traveling so it may be of some help. He does quite a few articles for the CC&MC.

Thanks, Bri. I’ve seen some of his vids in the past.

WE
We have toured the Outer Hebrides a couple of times with the Caravan on the back. . It's a wonderful part of Scotland. The Calmac hopscotch is the way to go. The last time we were there we travelled North from Barra.
There is also a lot to see and explore on the smaller Islands such as Vatorsay, Eriskay, and Berneray.
Ten days should be enough time to get an overview of the Outer Hebrides. You can always return in the future to explore in more detail.
I do hope you enjoy your trip. There are campsites all over the Islands so you should always have somewhere to spend the night. If you choose to park up overnight at any of the ferry ports, there is generally a fresh water tap and disposal for black waste available. ( Except Castlebay )
Regards Kennine.
