Hi everyone my first post so please be kind.. I’m in process of booking a site nr Weymouth for a week then want to drive to a site nr Torquay for week. Does anyone know what the coastal route is like for towing, looking on aa autoroute they are mostly A roads except first mile getting out of Weymouth. Thanks for your help.

Some of the coast roads are not ideal for towing, rich. They can be steep, twisting and narrow in places and you will have to detour anyway. The A3052, for instance, will take you through the town centre of Lyme Regis which isn’t a great idea.

I strongly recommend you use the A354 to the A35 Dorchester, follow the A35 to Honiton, then the A30 to the M5/A38 and the A380 into Torbay. It’s likely to be quicker and much easier.

I would also echo TW's route , but would add ,do not be tempted to use the B3157 between Weymouth and Bridport , very narrow and steep in places , we've done it in our M/H buy a bit hairy

out of interest, where are you coming from ??

I also agreed with TW and HD as I know the roads around that area well.

We'll be using the route in your second para in the summer - except we'll be going in the opposite direction.  Some of the smaller roads aren't worth the hassle.

Some of the roads simply aren’t suited to towing, David. We always use the route I quoted despite only having a small MH.

I've used the A354 and A35 before and it seem fine for towing from what I remember - although it's been a few years back now.
